YouTube prototype video player doesn’t require FlashBy Jeff Baker - 01/21/2010 7:22:04 AM |

YouTube is a popular site, of course, but it relies entirely on Adobe‘s Flash player to run its own video player. However, Google is cookin’ up something in their labs that hopes to remedy that.
This new video player is powered by nothing more than HTML5 which means even more of the Internet will get a chance to use YouTube. Of course, the technology currently only works with newer browsers like Chrome and Safari but then again it is still in beta so you can’t expect much.
Additionally, does this mean videos like this will some day work on the iPhone even if it never ends up getting Flash support? Only time will tell.
