Earlier, we reported that we weren’t certain if the White iPhone 4 would be ready at launch even at Wal-Mart, and now we know for sure.

Here is the official word from Apple:

White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.

Apparently, putting a white coat of paint on an iPhone 4 was more of a challenge than expected. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a delay on the delay. Well, today is iPhone 4 launch day, so we’ll probably have a lot of news as it rolls in.
