USB-Storage-for-the-xbox-360-thumb-550x395-35787Don’t ask me why it took so long, but Xbox 360 owners can now use the USB port in front for more than must charging controllers and accessories.

According to Joystiq:

“USB Mass Storage Device Support on Xbox 360″ will soon be a reality. The document, authored by a senior software development engineer at Microsoft, states that due to “increased market penetration of high-capacity, high throughput USB mass storage devices, a 2010 Xbox 360 system update” will allow consumers to save and load game data from USB devices. The update is purportedly coming in Spring 2010.

Yes, it can now support memory sticks. Granted, users will only be able to use a 16GB memory stick and not a large hard drive, but and least you can cut the cord from Microsoft’s small and expensive memory unit.
