Windows Vista? Get a Dell with Ubuntu

Dell is thinking outside the box at this time of year and they will be shipping out Dell Systems with Ubuntu as the main OS. How about that? Since Windows XP isn’t available anymore, Dell seems to be taking appropriate measures to avoid loosing customers unhappy with Vista. And offering this Linux OS version is going to take more dollars off the final price of the selected system. Or so you would anyone think. But it appears prices won’t drop significantly, as having Ubuntu installed also costs money.

For now the choice is limited but you can order an Ubuntu 8.04 PC. You have two options available. Either the Dell XPS 1330 or the Inspiron 1525 will come equipped with this Ubuntu version. Dell is expecting to be launch this models in August and the prices will start from $949 for the XPS model or $549 for the Inspiron.
