Will the cost of a PS3 drop?
The cool but pricey Playstation 3 could potentially see a drop in its price in the not-so-distant future. How so you say? Well it won't be by slashing features, but the cost of one of the integral parts of the PS3 is coming down, which could mean a drop in prices on the gaming console itself. The pick-up head (PUH) is an important part of any High Definition optical drive (including the PS3), and is seeing an impressive $100 wholesale price drop. While it's not likely that Sony will knock off a full $100 on the price of the PS3, they could take off maybe even $50 and still make people happy. Making us consumer happy is the ultimate goal because, after all, we're the ones determining the sales. And Sony, well they desperately need sales of the PS3 to pick up if they want any hope of competing in the next-gen console wars.
