Will Dell Buy Palm?
Dell officially removed the Axim X51 products off its website and stopped selling them April 5. The Axim Pocket PC was first introduced back in 2002. With the discontinued Axim PDA computers, there is a possibility that the Dell may be preparing to bring a smartphone to the cellular market by possibly buying Palm. Dell refuses to discuss such a rumor. According to Jack Gold, an analyst at J. Gold Associates, the move to discontinue the Axim line has been predicted for sometime and Dell was likely to introduce a smartphone later this year. With a line of four smart phones built on Windows Mobile and Palm operating systems, Dell would be wise to buy Palm. They certainly have enough money for such a move.
