It looks like Sony’s PlayStation 3 Slim was the thing Nintendo needed to cut down the price of its popular Wii console by $50. If you want to play motion controlled games you can get the Wii right now or the iPhone 3GS for the same price. The Wii’s new and very official price is $199.99, and although its graphics could be significantly improved, it still offers a better gaming experience than the iPhone or iPod touch when it comes to motion controlled games.
And that’s $100 less than the PS3 Slim! It will be interesting to see if Nintendo can stop the Slim’s popularity. Sony has sold over 1 million Slim consoles in less than three weeks and it’s getting ready to launch the 250GB PS3 Slim version. So what will you choose now folks? The cheaper Wii or the smaller Slim?

Honestly, the Wii dropping $200 isn’t that big of a deal. If anything it was about time on their part. But as always, it’s not the hardware that makes a game, it’s THE GAME, which competitors like the PS3 have a lot of this and next season. Add in the Blu-Ray and the Free Online play (as well as games that ACTUALLY HAVE online play) and the real winner is pretty clear I think.
