Tethering is not the only thing AT&T prohibits. VoIP is also a no-no application. AT&T doesn’t want you to talk almost for free with your friends via your VoIP application. Luckily for all AT&T iPhone customers, Global IP Solutions want to release a VoIP software kit for the iPhone. With it you will not only be able to make VoIP calls, but you could add VoIP to other programs.
While Global IP Solutions will provide the VoIP SDK to developers and while VoIP functions will be respecting AT&T’s terms of service, that doesn’t mean future VoIP applications will be immediately made available through Apple’s App Store. AT&T might still want to pull them off.
