11 Jun 08 Voice Search Prototype On iPhone from Nuance

How would you like to talk to your iPhone? Don’t tell me that you already do that. I am sure it doesn’t talk back to you. And don’t tell me that your friends talk to you through the iPhone either. It’s a phone after all.

What I mean is, wouldn’t you like to talk to it and see it respond? Give it commands, ask questions, replace writing all the time with a voice recognition software. Don’t type the words, but speak them out load and see the iPhone respond by delivering relevant web pages for your question. Nuance has revealed such a prototype program, a Voice Search software for all your searches on the iPhone.

I’d give it a try to see how accurate voice recognition is. I wouldn’t appreciate being annoyed by a program that doesn’t exactly understand what I am telling it to do.

Are we to expect SMS, IM and email “writing” via voice in the future? That’s surely going to happen.
