Vitendo Delivers Industry's First UMA Softphone

Vitendo Systems announced the release of vFone 4.0, a UMA-based Softphone for PC applications. UMA, or Unlicensed Mobile Access, is a component of Fixed-Mobile Convergence strategy for worldwide cellular operations, allowing mobile operators to offer their services using existing broadband and WiFi infrastructure. Identifying the need for FMC-enabled cellular operations, Vitendo's UMA Softphone will allow cellular operators to compete with P2P offerings.
With looks and features similar to that of a mobile phone, the vFone 4.0 allows end-users to make and receive calls as well as send/receive SMS messages. Other features include:
vFone 4.0 is now available now for Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
