Verizon’s Storm Is a “Best-Selling Device” According to RIMBy Chris - 12/19/2008 4:11:36 PM |
The Storm is a more than decent smartphone. It’s surely in my top three phones of the year. But it’s Verizon‘s problematic Storm release and recent RIM’s declarations that make me think unhappy thoughts about it.
RIM has called it the “best-selling device” of Verizon so far. That’s such a nice thing to say but none of the two companies has actually released the number of sold Storms so far. How many people have returned the Storm? We don’t know that either. What’s more surprising is the fact that RIM has also declared it has sold 6.9 million smartphones from September to November. Now we’re not calling RIM liars but it’s a little too weird not to mention the number of sold Storms but to actually say the number of total phones sold in the last quarter. Especially since the number is really similar to the competition’s. Apple as sold just as many iPhones but the difference here is that Apple has only the iPhone to sell and that they have also mentioned their total sold iPhones. Is there anything RIM would like to add to its recent claims about the Storm?
