See the guy in the picture there? His name is Ivan Seidenberg, and he’s the CEO and chairman (for now) of Verizon Wireless. Nothing wrong with that. What’s wrong in my book is throwing stones at the competition. Remember how Ballmer, Steve, did it last year. Going all berserk about how the iPhone will not be successful and all?

Well apparently Mr. Ivan is a Ballmer kind of guy. He went on to declare to Britain’s Financial Times that he doesn’t think Apple is going to be successful with their new $200 device. Well Mr. Ivan, apparently you haven’t checked the news lately. Carriers are buzzing around Apple for a piece of that cake Steve Jobs has prepared and called the iPhone. Apple are going to sell anywhere from 15 to 18 million 3G iPhones. No matter if you like them or not you should respect them only for that. Furthermore, how about getting a decent device to compete against the iPhone and start a proper marketing campaign instead of go of declaring stuff like that. The kind of stuff people make fun of you get remembered for.

Mr. Ivan goes on saying:

In the long term, my view is that we’re the hunter. That’s the way I see it, and I’m trying to develop a new generation of hunters.

Sure. You might need to refill that prescription that keeps a CEO from doing this.
