Those who have been waiting to purchase Motorola’s DROID for Verizon can wait no longer as it has just been put up for sale. The Android 2.0, 5mp camera touting DROID will set you back $299.99 with a 2-year contract.
Additionally, those looking to spend a bit less can pick up the HTC developed DROID Eris for $99.99 with a 2-year contract.
Will this duo of devices stack up against AT&T/Apple’s iPhone? Let’s wait and find out.

AT&T only has the Iphone, which itself is far from perfect. I notice everytime I come on this site that there is an unprecedented amount of bias and love for the Iphone, great as it may be, it is not the greatest device. There are half a dozen devices already better than the ageing Iphone which ironically, has the catching up to do with the HTC HD2/Nokia N900 and if the rumoured 4.3 inch capacititive HTC Dragon/Archos Android smartphones come out, you can bet the crew at Apple will be fearing for the dated 3Gs, which let’s face it, is sagging in performance and is lagging. From now till 2010 June/July is a long time away, and by that time we will see the 3Gs as a performer being outwitted by superior newer and fresher 1GHZ smartphones. All I can say is, Iphone, move over and go back to 2007 where you belong. Little change and innovation wins nobody but fanboys.
@pat, i wouldn’t be “totally” have a change of heart on that issue alone, but yes going to verizon website to get HTC droid Eris is a lucrative option, it should have been your 1st though and oh, au revoir to your old phone btw
How’s droid today? Hell, it was amazing! though a little beat off beat that than the phenomenal apple iphone 2g way back 2 years ago.
