Verizon Discontinues SMS Delivery ConfirmationsBy Chris - 09/21/2008 4:52:53 PM |

In a weird move Verizon Wireless has discontinued its SMS delivery confirmations. Why would they do anything like that?
It looks like the move has started on September 9th on a regional basis and it’s said that the service will be discontinued everywhere by the end of September.
It looks like for every SMS message sent, Verizon had to send out data to the receiver and then send data back to the sender. The whole confirmation process is said to have clogged the carriers data network. I know people tend to send a lot of messages but is Verizon’s network that bad? Or is Verizon going to charge for the whole confirmation thing?
