V7 Standard Keyboard–A Comparative Rarity These DaysBy Steve Anderson - 12/02/2009 3:20:46 AM |
So today, I’m bringing you another V7 product, sent out my way by same, that is a comparative rarity among keyboards in the market.
See, a lot of keyboards today are intended for use with computers of today. A lot of computers, especially those made within the last three years or so, come standard with a dizzying array of USB slots. Some I’ve seen have as many as eight, and this may not be the top of the heap. Thus, it’s nothing special to offer a USB keyboard. But for those of you out there with older computers (and you are not alone–my primary is a whopping FIVE YEARS OLD now and still running, it’s a single P4 for crying out loud) so for those, one of the rarest kind of keyboard would be a lot better, a keyboard with a PS/2 plug.
Most keyboards don’t even offer it these days, but the V7 standard DOES. And despite how realtively mundane this keyboard actually is (you can see THROUGH it in some spaces!), these port, this holy grail port that allows it to be used by older computers, is so vanishingly rare these days that it makes it actually a step above.
But for the most part, the V7 standard is just that, standard, and unless you need the PS/2 plug or don’t mind dirt cheap bare bones hardware, you can do much better for not much more money, thus earning this one a better than average six out of ten for having only one thing special, but one thing that nearly no one else has.
The Good
Dirt cheap
Simple operation, no software required
PS/2 plug
The Bad
Absolutely no frills
Transparent in some parts
