USB 3.0 Chipsets to Arrive Only in 2011

In case you are waiting for Intel to launch USB 3.0 chipsets then we have some really bad news for you. Although the new USB standard has been official for quite a while, Intel will apparently start delivering those USB 3.0 chipsets only in 2011.

Various manufacturers have already started making USB 3.0 gadgets which we won’t be able to enjoy in the near future. According to inside sources “tech and strategy groups [at Intel] are not always aligned with the product development teams that are in the mode of trying to make revenue and prioritize what to integrate.”

In other words there’s no point in buying USB 3.0 devices just yet since it will take two years until Intel starts offering USB 3.0 chipsets to the masses. What do you say folks, is this fair to us? Aren’t we entitled to USB 3.0 speeds?
