Turn An Ordinary Cell Phone into a GPS Enabled Device with Fugawi Touratel
If you got an ordinary mobile phone and want to have GPS functionality, then rejoice because now there's Fugawi Touratel. Northpoint Systems, a GPS marker, could turn a run of the mill cellphone into a GPS navigator. The Fugawi Touratel is a Web 2.0 based service. You don't need to have a GPS enabled phone to use it because it's connected via the internet. The only problem would be when you're in an area where network coverage is hard to come by.
The Fugawi Touratel could be used to download high-resolution maps, urban and air photos. As of current, it could be used with Samsung, Sanyo, LG and Motorola phones on Boost Mobile, Alltel or Sprint. The service costs a mere $3 a month and if you're the outdoorsy type, this would definitely be of use in the future.
