Have an iPod touch but don’t want to spring another few hundred dollars on an iPhone? The Truphone for iPod touch may be for you. The cool application essentially turns your music player into a VoIP phone - which means free calls when using your home internet connection.
And the application lets you call not only other iPod touch owners but also users of Truphone’s Internet telephony service and your Google Talk friends. (I am not a huge fan of GTalk, but that’s another story). Upcoming features include calling to landlines (at a cost, bummer), IM/call capability for Skype and MSN users and additional facilities for interacting with Twitter and Facebook, two of the social networking hotspots on the Internet.
Download the Truphone for iPod touch from the App Store. There’s also a Microphone adaptor accessory that goes with it, and is available from Apple’s iStore.
Check out www.truphone.com for more details.
