Two weeks ago we mentioned the Truphone VoIP for iPod Touch, but the good news is that the application is now available for the iPhone as well. This addition means that iPhone users can make calls threw Truphone when there isn’t WiFi access. In other words, instead of paying normal rates, iPhone users will make a call via a local connection, and afterwards start using VoIP - Voice over IP.

In the end the costs of international calls are pretty low, like $0.6 per minute.

The new Truphone application got another aditional feature named “presence” that lets iPhone users know when their Truphone buddies are online.

Geraldine Wilson of Truphone, comments:

No-one likes big mobile bills, and they don’t come any bigger than for international calls. But for iPhone users, that no longer needs to be the case. They can choose either to pay standard international call rates, or to reduce them to as little as 3 pence or 6 cents per minute. It’s as simple as that, no catches.
