Well here’s something I wasn’t really expecting. Virgin Mobile is offering a “Totally Unlimited” plan for just $79.99 starting with July 1st. And that’s not even it. Apparently this new plan will be the first unlimited nationwide calling plan with no contract and more importantly with no roaming charges. Ok, where’s the catch? The hidden clause? You know, where are we supposed to sign with blood?
Bob Stohrer, Chief Marketing Officer of Virgin Mobile USA says:
’Totally Unlimited’ for 79.99 per month is simply a better value than postpaid plans offer. It is simply not necessary to sign a two-year contract to get real worth with your wireless plan. This offer surpasses the regional carriers’ unlimited calling plans as well, as most add on roaming charges that can cost customers as much as 79 cents per minute. With ‘Totally Unlimited,’ Virgin Mobile USA is providing consumers unlimited talk without all the limitations.
I’d try a piece of that. I can’t believe there aren’t any strings attached. Further more, for $10 more you will get unlimited text and messaging which means unlimited SMS, IM, email and picture messages. Wow again. Even better. Why not add an unlimited data plan option too?
I’m counting on them to come up with some cool cell phone offers as well. Although it would be difficult to launch a hot smartphone and subsidize it without making the average customer sign a two year kind of deal. The unlimited plans will be either Pay as You Go or monthly plans with no complicated contract and termination fees.
I guess more people would be interested in this. Looking for all the juicy details after July 1st. There simply has to be a catch!
