Toshiba Shows Prototype of Fast-charging BatteryBy Maverick - 09/30/2008 1:40:56 PM |
The future is at Toshiba… well, the future of laptop charging, that is! The company has showed off a prototype of its fast-charging SCiB battery designed to charge laptops to 90 percent capacity within 10 minutes. Astounding? Yes. Readily available? Sadly, no. The technology is still quite some time away from making its way to computers.
Interestingly, this technology will last longer and endure more recharge cycles than your average lithium-ion batteries. They are also safer than the aforementioned batteries, featuring a higher level of thermal stability and whatnot.
No release date or price for the SCiB laptop batteries was set.
