Toshiba Enhances the Entertainment Experience on Consumer Notebooks with Dolby Surround Sound

More goodies from Toshiba in turning their laptops into multimedia powerhouses. The Qosmio and Satellite notebooks will now feature Dolby Home Theater or Dolby Sound Room technology for enhanced surround sound experience.

Dolby Home Theater will be incorporated into Toshiba's high-end Qosmio and Satellite X205 models, while the Satellite U305, Satellite A125, Satellite A205, Satellite P205 and Satellite M205 will feature Sound Room technology from Dolby Labs.

Citing more usage of the notebook PC for entertainment, whether at home or on the road, Jeff Barney of Toshiba stated, "Through Dolby Home Theater and Dolby Sound Room technology, Toshiba users will be able to surround themselves and potential guests with vibrant and realistic Dolby surround sound."

Dolby Home Theater includes Dolby Pro Logic II, which creates a 5.1-channel surround sound experience from any stereo source. The Dolby Virtual Speaker creates 5.1-channel surround from any pair of stereo speakers.
