Voodoo Envy 133
Ok when did this happen and how come I knew nothing about it? I actually was waiting for a Voodoo response from Rahul Sood. I guess he realized the Air good enough to cut his groceries so the Envy 133 must have been conceived.

Let’s see what this HP Voodoo is all about. I like what I’ve seen in the pictures across the web, but I have to see what’s inside. The following numbers won’t impress me that much if there’s nothing appealing inside. The Envy 133 0.7 inch thin, 9.04 inch deep and 12.65 inches wide and it weighs only 3.373 pounds.

Without further ado, here are the Envy’s specs:

  • carbon fibre casing
  • 13.3-inch backlit LED screen
  • Voodoo IOS
  • Voodoo Aura PowerConnect, Ethernet jack goes into the power brick which is more “WiFi” for you
  • Replaceable Battery, it will get you up to 4 hours of battery life
  • Integrated Webcam
  • External ODD, ID-coordinated external optical drive is included with every Voodoo Envy 133
  • Wireless Connectivity through 802.11 ABGN + Bluetooth®.
  • I/O ports: headphone/microphone, HDMI, USB 2.0 (1x) and a shared e-SATA/USB (1x).
  • Professional Backlit Keyboard
  • Proximity Sensor, this is what I would love in current laptops. Touch pads make me go crazy and disable them,
  • Dolby® Sound Room® -
  • Coordinated Peripherals which match the design of the Envy
  • 13.3-inch LED WXGA (1,280 x 800) screen
  • Ambient Sensors which will adjust brightness according to your environment
  • Lojack Recover Software for recovering stolen laptops

I admit I am partially impressed. MacBooks beware! I need more details though. What’s really inside there?

This Envy will cost $2100. Should I get a MacBook Air instead? The Envy feels like the wiser choice. And will be available this summer so I’ll get a better idea on what it can do? Can I go Snow Leopard on it?
