I’ve got my hands on an LG Chocolate Touch, and it’s a pretty solid phone alright.

LG actually sent me one of these in a box that actually looks like a box of chocolates, complete with what I’m guessing here is some kind of velvet liner. It’s a surprisingly nice screen-cleaner too, which is handy because this thing depends on touch-screen tech like few things I’ve seen before. Most everything is touch screen on this.

It comes with a lot of interesting features, like a web browser and a GPS system and game demos, most of which I couldn’t actually use because they require a network connection, and you can’t get this thing network connected without being on a Verizon calling plan, which is a bit of a metaphorical kick in the junk but nothing new. However, there were several features I could use, including an FM radio that was actually much stronger than several others I’ve tried, not to mention it worked with my existing headphones. They even included a sample track on there that played at very impressive levels.

The music really is the best thing about this phone, and they’ve tacked on quite a bit of storage space for it.

Plus, it also has a 3.2 megapixel camera, which is not half bad, especially for a cell phone camera. As cell phone cameras go, that’s really one of the highest pixel counts I’ve seen.

Basically, the LG Chocolate Touch is a pretty high quality piece, and assuming the call clarity is good (they keep hawking that network so I figure it must be, and I use Verizon for my local phone service so I can speak to that quality) it should be satisfactory. Look to spend varying amounts depending on what level of service you want–it’s actually free with some plans but Best Buy’s selling it outright for three hundred fifty bucks. All things considered, you should be pretty happy with one of these.

Score: 8/10
