The future of laptop industry: Ultra-thin notebooks with long battery lifeBy Tony - 12/09/2009 10:19:58 PM |
The quote “ultra-thin notebooks with long battery life will be the future” was said by the charmain of Acer, JT Wang. According to what he has in mind, the reason behind the low sales of ultra-thin notebooks is obviously related to HP and Dell actions of lowering the prices to $400 in order to be able to compete in the same level.
In the near future, between March and April 2010, Acer has plans to launch a new line of ultra-thin notebooks and therefore to grow close to 30% of the laptop industry.
Wang also estimated Acer will ship 1-2 million handsets in 2010, but noted the handset business is still developing and could need another three or more years before revenue contributions reach 10%.
