11 Jul 09 Texting causes teenager to fall into open manhole
It seems that a 15 year old girl by the name of Alexa Longueira was minding her own business walking down the street texting without looking infront of her. While looking down at her phone she couldn’t see the open manhole that she then proceeded to fall into.
Despite her only scraping her back and shoulders, she remained physically unharmed. However, her mother told officials that she was mentally harmed as the sewer was ‘putrid’ and the fact that she lost a shoe while down there. This has lead the family to announce they will sue due to the incident.
I can just see it now, a new law being passed that prohibits youths from texting while walking. Then again, this is no ones fault other than the teenagers.

Gotta say; living in San Francisco I see literally dozens of people every day texting while they walk across streets, turn corners, walk downs stairs, bicycle and of course drive. I’ve seen a girl trip on the curb and do a face plant on the sidewalk, a man knocked on his ass by a sign pole and of course a few rear ends. I haven’t seen anyone get mowed down in a crosswalk yet, but I”m sure it’s just a matter of time. Sigh. I figure that God has found an alternative to war for “thinning the numbers” of the human heard.
Next news, a worker was decapitated by a car, when he stood his head up from the UNBLOCKED manhole while working. Whos fault is it??? HOW DUMB CAN YOU PEOPLE BE TO BLAME THE GIRL…
By not blocking the manhole, they not only endanger others, but the workers themselves are endanger…
