Here’s an app that I haven’t seen before known as Textie.

Textie allows the user to trade messages through email aliases between Textie clients, through phone numbers between Textie clients, between Textie and email clients, as well as between Textie and other phone numbers.

Best of all, it is completely free. Of course, you can get a $2 version without ads.
