It looks like Microsoft is willing to leak as much info as possible about its future tablet. The Courier has been spotted again and it looks like the hot tablet is running Windows 7. We were certainly waiting for the Courier to run Windows 7. It’s not like Redmond has more OS ready to power up a tablet computer.

Microsoft is responsible for designing its own hardware just as it did with the Zune HD and the Xbox 360. The Courier will hit resellers sometime in mid 2010 which is probably when Apple’s future tablet will also be available in stores. Remember though that this is all based on speculation, rumors and leaked information. Microsoft will not comment on anything yet which is a clever move in order to keep us buzzing about the tablet.

The Zune HD is a hit product so far. Most resellers have run out of it so maybe you should check eBay’s auctions to see if people are selling any Zune HD. And if you do, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that there’s a special Zune waiting for you. The auction for this 32GB “Atomic” Zune HD starts at $265 but the price will probably go way up. In case you’re not willing to pay extra for a Zune HD then you should probably wait for the guys at Redmond to release this version too. Which I’m sure they will do at some point in the near future.

MSI Announces 3-Inch MT-V656 PMP

It looks like MSI is not all about netbooks and laptops! The company has a 3-inch PMP ready to introduce to everyone. The MT-V656 is the device in question and it will offer you a 3-inch display (most likely finger friendly but unconfirmed so far), a silver casing, video output, FM tuner, voice recording capabilities, various media files support, 4GB of storage space upgradeable via memory card and support for gaming. The device will be available for just $42 which is a very affordable price but we have no idea when MSI will actually make it available. Would you get a MT-V656 PMP instead of the Zune HD or the iPod touch 3G?

If you can’t wait to get your Zune HD but you’re not going to be in the USA next week than you can already forget about it. The PMP won’t be available anywhere outside the States for now. Not even Canada.

Here’s what Microsoft had to say about the Zune HD sales:

For the time being the Zune HD device will remain US only. Right now we are focused on deploying an exciting service in the form of Zune Video to 18 markets. We are looking at potential future hardware experiences for these markets, but do not have anything to announce right now.

So what do you think, did this strategy manage to scare Apple? Considering that Apple has sold over 225 million iPods already and the number is going to grow in the near future maybe Microsoft should revise its sales policy and expand to other foreign markets too.

Let’s put Apple’s special music behind us for a second and remember that Microsoft’s newest PMP, the Zune HD is about to get launched. And just in case you think you’re ready to try out something different than an iPod then you should know that Amazon is going to deliver the Zune HD right on launch day. You can order your Zune HD today and you’ll have it delivered to your door right on September 15. Does that sound like a good plan or are you on your way to an Apple store?

We’ve known for a while now that Microsoft is planning some sort of application delivery method for their Windows Mobile handsets but the same could not be said for the Zune HD. However, if the above videos is anything to go by, Ballmer and his boys may be working on an app store for the Zune, too.

The video comes to us from a Qik user by the name of Matthew Akin who took the video at a recent Best Buy Zune HD preview. As you can see, in the Marketplace there is an Apps link, but what could it possibly lead to?

Is This the Zune HD Box?

Are you waiting for Microsoft to start selling the Zune HD? Well I don’t know if this will help but it looks like the official Zune HD box has been spotted in the wild. The new hot player was a no show at both Best Buy locations in the Houston-area but it looks like someone got a hold of the Zune HD. The box looks pretty real and there’s no blurriness involved in this pic. But we’ve seen lots of leaked images so far which were proved to be fake so we will not jump to any conclusions just yet!

NVIDIA has today issued a press release showing off the fact that their all new “ultra-lower-power HD” Tegra processor will provide the muscle in Microsoft’s forthcoming Zune HD.

Below is a list of reasons why NVIDIA thinks the Tegra will help the Zune HD reign supreme:

  • an HD video processor dedicated to HD video, providing unprecedented picture quality and ultra-smooth, vivid movie playback with low power consumption
  • an ultra-low power graphics processor for a compelling and intuitive user interface
  • NVIDIA nPower™ technology, which optimizes system power use and enables extended HD video and MP3 playback time

Will HD quality help the Zune HD oust Apple’s iPod touch? We’ll have to wait until the device’s September 15th release date to find out.

Apple’s future keynote hasn’t been properly announced yet but we hear the next event is coming in the week of September 7. According to these rumors, Steve Jobs might be present and Mac lovers have probably waiting for him to return for quite a while now.

What will Apple launch? We will probably going to see the next generation of iPod touches, you know, the ones with cameras and microphones. The new iPod touch will come in new sizes, 16, 32 and 64GB which will cost $199, $299 and $399. Considering that that hot new Zune HD is coming on September 18 we should very well assume that Apple is indeed launching the new iPod touch a week before.

What else can we expect? Will we see the tablet? A MacBook refresh? iTunes 9? Whatever it is, we’ll be watching!

  • The Zune HD coverage is really running rampant today, first Microsoft confirmed its release date, then we were notified of some new colorways and now we bring you details on the official Zune HD AV Dock.

The Zune HD AV Dock is pictured above and will run you $89.99, below is the description taken from its Amazon.com listing:

This all-in-one package enables Zune HD players to charge, sync, and play supported 720p HD videos on HDTVs. Send music to your home audio systems and control it all via a wireless remote.

This dock will come with three inserts (for all 3 Zune models), an AC adapter, HDMI cable, AV output cable and a wireless remote. It will be out on September 15th, the same day the Zune HD will hit the market.

    More Zune HD colors?

What you see above is reportedly a picture included in an e-mail that was sent out to Zune HD followers notifying them that the device is up for pre-order. While the picture isn’t of the highest resolution, it’s quite evident that there are several different colors to choose from, including ones we hadn’t seen before; red, green and blue added onto the previously known black and silver.

There hasn’t exactly been official confirmation on this, but it seems pretty legit. Perhaps we’ll have to wait until September 18th to know for sure.

  • Earlier this week we showed you what was supposedly a leaked Zune HD Best Buy display stand that said the device would be hitting store shelves on September 18th of this year. That was only added to the fact that Amazon.com had Zune HD up for pre-order the same day giving us a hint at the device’s price.

Well today, Microsoft soft has come clean and let us know that the Zune HD will in fact be hitting retailers on September 18th in 16GB and 32GB models for $219.99 and $289.99 respectively.

What’s more is, not only has Amazon re-listed the device for pre-order but Microsoft, Best Buy and Walmart have done the same.

Just hours after the Amazon.com listing was pulled which notified us of the Zune HD’s pricing, we bring you a leaked promotional display for the device letting us know that it will in fact be hitting store shelves on September 15th.

The picture comes to us from a Gizmodo tipster, who is reportedly a Best Buy employee, so I think it’s safe to say this one is confirmed.

Earlier today an Amazon.com listing was spotted that had 16GB and 32GB Zune HD models up for pre-order. The listing has since been removed but we have included a screen shot of it above for your viewing pleasure.

As you can see, the 16GB model features a black colorway and will go on sale for $219.99. The 32GB model, on the other hand, will feature a platinum colorway and a price tag of $289.99.

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that the iPod touch (which is the device the Zune HD will go up against) is priced at $299 for the 16GB model and $399 for the 32GB model. Competitive pricing anyone?

It seems that Microsoft’s iPod touch competitor, the Zune HD, has finally made its way through the FCC and from it we have a slew of pictures like the one above.

What we have learned from this recent FCC filing is that the device will come in both 16 and 32GB capacities and that it will in fact feature a dock (if you couldn’t have guessed).

In terms of a price point and release date well, we’ll still have to wait until Microsoft gives us official word but we’re thinking it will hit store shelves later this year at a price dangerously close to the iPod touch’s.

It seems that a few press images of the highly sought after Zune HD have emerged thanks to a Zune MVP’s twitter account. While the pictures were quickly taken down a blogger by the name of Josh managed to snag them before they were.

As you can see, these press images clearly show the two colorways the device  will ship in; black and silver.

Expect Microsoft’s Zune HD to hit store shelves on September 8th of this year.

Samsung is working on a new portable media player which seems destined to compete against the iPod touch and most importantly against Microsoft’s Zune HD. The Samsung M1 is the gadget in question and it will come with a 3.3-inch OLED touchscreen and an Nvidia Tegra chipset. Other features will include Bluetooth audio support, DivX video playback, FM radio, photo viewer, text reader, voice recorder and microSD support. Of course there are no prices available just yet so you’ll have to wait a while to make your choice. And what will you choose when the time comes? Samsung’s M1, Microsoft’s Zune HD or Apple’s iPod touch?

    Zune HD Marketplace pictured?

The Zune HD has already proven itself to be a beautiful piece of hardware but to really succeed against the iPod it’s going to need an even more beautiful Zune Marketplace.

What you see above is reportedly a picture of said Marketplace that was posted on Xbox 360 Program Manager Fitret’s twitter.

Sure, it’s not much, but it will give you a general idea of what to expect if you so choose to pick up a Zune HD when it drops.
