Back in April, Skyfire was looking for Alpha users of its mobile browser. Now after that phase has been done with, Skyfire for the Blackberry announces its beta phase, oozing with enhancements from the previous alpha version.
Among the expected enhancements for the Skyfire Beta version include new keyboard shortcuts and the “Switch to Skyfire” option which is similar to the multi-tabbed browsing we see from Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Other features for the beta version include:
While the Skyfire browser seems to show a lot of improvements from the alpha release, users are warned that it is still not perfect. Errors and slow performance are still being debugged so don’t set your expectations too high.

Touch screen technology has apparently gotten the better of us but apparently there is a new software that allows anyone to scroll the iPhone screens with the use of a finger. Aesthology has released Finger Memo 2.0, a handwriting app for the iPhone and iPod touch that supports unlimited canvas sizes and unlimited undo and redo.
The app lets you scroll back and forth across the canvas with finger touches, and also includes a fast scrolling feature that speeds up the process. In addition, the app includes three color pens, an eraser, support for pinch zoom and landscape mode, a shake function that acts as Undo All, thumbnail previews of all memos, and the ability to export them to Photo Library. Many of these features are new in version 2.0.
The app costs $1.99 and is currently available in Apple’s App Store.

Another classic game is going to be available for the iPhone soon. Thanks to the efforts of First Star Software and Chillingo, Boulder Dash will be soon playable on iPhones which was first seen via Apple. First Star Software has re-engineered Boulder Dash for the iPhone and iPod Touch to make use of “multi-touch; ‘pinch’ zoom; the ability to switch between portrait and landscape modes on the fly”.
The major hurdle for this game to make it to the iPhone is one of controls. Past iPhone Boulder Dash clones have failed to successfully make this transition. In the original version, quick joystick control was required to navigate some of the more complicated mazes. First Star Software has chosen to go with a variety of control options to accommodate different players.
There are two virtual pad controls and one swipe control. Virtual control pads offer the up/down/left/right buttons in a standard plus-sign configuration (screenshot) or divided (screenshot) into separate up/down or left/right controls. Meanwhile, the swipe controls allow you to swipe anywhere in the direction you want to go. Swiping and holding allows you to continue moving in that direction.
