I guess it’s not a surprise to hear that Microsoft is interested in Yahoo again. What’s that, the third or fourth time they are considering striking a deal with Yahoo? But hey, who’s counting anyhow, right? How do you think Google is feeling about that? After all they wanted a piece of Yahoo too…
Don’t go feeling all deja-vu just yet. Microsoft has something new in mind this time. Apparently they don’t feel comfortable in a monogamous relationship and they’re turning to NewsCorp or Time Warnder for a kinky threesome deal. While Microsoft will acquire everything that’s involved in the Yahoo Search business, the other potential partner will get everything else.
And all this comes in a moment in which Google’s advertising deal with Yahoo is under investigation. The US department of Justice isn’t happy with all that happy about such an anti-competitive agreement.

Microsoft: I want you Yahoo, I only want you, there’s no one else like you! (to himself) Damn you Google!
Yahoo: I want you too Microsoft. I want to bare your children! (to herself) Wait until I get my hands on all your money.
Later on Microsoft dumped Yahoo as Yahoo didn’t want to sign the prenuptial agreement Microsoft had in mind. Imagine our surprise when we saw both Microsoft and Yahoo suffering and trying to work things out. But we aren’t fools, there’s no future in this relationship and everyone knows it. That’s why Microsoft is dumping Yahoo again. Well Yahoo, we’ve warned you that Microsoft was bad news…

Not a long time ago I was telling you guys how Steve Ballmer has done it again by not being able to get Yahoo to sign an agreement with Microsoft. After the Windows Vista mega hit, this was another unsuccessful but dramatically debated move from Microsoft.

In addition to warding off Microsoft’s advances towards a takeover, Yahoo seems to have got some work done on its Yahoo Go! with several improvements over the previous version 2.0 for the Windows Mobile platform, which was disappointing to say the least.
The application’s user interface has undergone a overhaul and there is now full support for widgets aimed at providing information on the go. There is now an integrated at-a-glance Yahoo screen and improved oneSearch feature along with a comely Web 2.0-like feel and navigation to the application. All the data is stored in a “cloud” for easy retrieval on any other web-enabled device and since this would mean heavy data transfers, it would help if you had an unlimited data plan.
Go ahead and snatch it here if you own a Windows Mobile-powered device. I have tested it on a HTC Touch and it doesn’t seem that bad.

No matter what cell phone we use, no matter what new dektop or ultra-portable notebook gets invented and released, no matter whether a PC is legal in Cuba or not, names like Yahoo, Microsoft, Apple or Google will always try to get involved in those markets.
This year the Yahoo takeover by Microsoft (hostile or soft) has been one of the headlines over the internet. Whether you were online on your new smart phone or on your company’s laptop you must have heard about it. All that hassle and all the talk about how, when and where will this deal finally be signed.
But what a shocker. Microsoft will no longer pursue their Yahoo acquisition. So they say at least for now. How will that impact the mobile world? We’ll just have to wait and see! As for now the only winner of this completed deal has one name: Google!

After the news about Japan’s NTT DoCoMo and Google, here comes another mobile provider company and search engine giant tie-up. Latin America’s leading mobile service provider, America Movil, has partnered with Yahoo! to bring the latter’s oneSearch service to all of American Movil’s subscribers. This means Yahoo! will be default mobile Internet search engine for the providers’ customers in 16 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Reports (and I believe its already official) have circulated that Yahoo has just purchased Zimbra. Zimbra of course is a groupware product created by Zimbra Inc. It is a web client and a full featured collaboration suite that supports email and group calendars using an Ajax web interface that enables tool tips, draggable items, and right-click menus in the UI.
The question now is, what will Yahoo do with it? Will they port it and use it on mobile devices? As companies are in competition to become the best of the best, moves are initiated to that direction. Companies such as Google, Microsoft and Yahoo are slowly integrating mobile devices with the internet.
There will come a time when documents no longer exist, but hyperlinks on the internet. Soon, time will come when instead of sending your boss your reports, you’ll just send him a text message with a link.
