It’s been a while since we’ve heard of Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X2, but today the company has come forth and officially announced the device.

The XPERIA X2 will hit selected markted in Q4 2009 running Windows Mobile 6.5 and feature a built-in 8.1 megapixel camera, a 4GB micro SD memory card and 13 pre-loaded panels, which is basically Sony Ericsson’s version of an app, as you can see above.

According to the Xperiancers blog, the company is currently in the processor of deciding which markets and carriers the handset is to be released on which we will hear more about in the coming weeks.

The next Sony Ericsson Xperia phone is on its way but while we wait for the X2 to become official we have plenty of time to check out this Sony Ericsson Xperia X5 aka Nadine concept. As you can see, the X5 will basically follow the same design guidelines of its predecessors. The large touchscreen display and the full QWERTY keyboard are both present although they look a lot better than what we’ve seen so far. Other features include a 12-megapixel camera with HD video recording which is certainly a nice surprise. But enough dreaming for now! Let’s see what the X2 is all about before we start thinking about the X5, shall we?

What you see above is a video demo of the forthcoming Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2. Sure, the video is blurry, shakey and the person using the phone doesn’t really do anything of interest but at least it gives us a hint as to what expect when the handset drops at an unannounced date.

Sony Ericsson has a new special event scheduled for this Wednesday, June 17. The company will probably launch at least one new phone if not more. Are we going to see that much rumored Xperia X2 officially emerge? What else could Sony Ericsson have up its sleeve? It should be pretty hot considering that Sony Ericsson wants to absolutely launch something ahead of the CommunicAsia event.
