That means Sprint subscribers and not only can pick it up if equipped correctly. Here are the cities in which the XOHM is said to be active: Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. or Northern Virginia. It was time for Sprint to launch the network already. They have been delaying for too long now.

  • Sprint has been working for quite a while at it’s WiMAX network but it failed to launch the XOHM in Baltimore in September as the company announced earlier on.

It looks like Sprint has turned the XOHM on in Baltimore downtown area today. We have no clear idea yet
on when the XOHM will spread to the entire city. According to words on Baltimore’s streets, a 24-hour unlimited pass will cost $10 while a whole month will cost $35. Additionally you’ll have to purchase WiMAX cards which will be available from $45.

So Baltimore? Do you WiMAX or not?

As predicted by most, Sprint’s imminent delay of the official launch of it’s XOHM WiMAX network, will push this official release to October. Sprint confirmed September saying that everything was going according to plan. It seems that the plan isn’t that good is it? (more…)

Sprint’s subscribers have been waiting for their XOHM forever now. The WiMAX based mobile broadband is getting ready to be launched but Sprint managed to leak more info. While waiting for their partnership with Clearwire to be approved, the carrier has started building up a XOHM Member website.

The site has details about the service and about the hardware. For example, the Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition is expected to arrive for Sprint XOHM customers. A XOHM USB modem, a XOHM expresscard modem, a wireless router with Ethernet hub and a XOHM portal are also mentioned.

No prices have been published yet so we’ll be waiting to see if this month is when the XOHM will appear.

  • Rumored: Google to Acquire Sprint

The Guys over at Sprint have some financial problems to say the least. We’ve seen them sell a large number of their towers a few weeks ago and we’ve heard rumors about Sprint selling Nextel.

It appears now that Google is interested in a Sprint acquisition. The rumor has been around the block last year too but it appears that now Google has a special interest in Sprint’s WiMAX network now which they would surely use to launch the first Android devices.

For now we don’t have any Android devices and no official news around the matter. Are we to see Google’s XOHM soon?

Don’t look now but the XOHM is ready to be launched by Sprint. By XOHM I mean a high speed WiMAX network Sprint had in development for way too long, and by ready I mean sometime this September.
The lucky subscribers that chose Sprint in Baltimore are the ones to try the XOHM when it finally gets released. It has been tested so far in the Chicago and Baltimore-Washington D.C areas and I’d assume it will hit more markets later on.
