LG Electronics and Hayden Panettiere held a pool party along with 50 youth members from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sta. Monica to highlight the role of Hayden Panettiere in the marketing efforts for the LG Xenon. Hayden and company celebrated the afternoon event with a barbeque and afternoon celebration by the pool.
LG Mobile Phones also presented the Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Monica with a check for $15,000 to aid the organization’s programs in the Los Angeles County. A group of Hayden Panettiere’s friends, including Dania Rameriez, Jesse McCartney, Corbin Bleu, Gilles Marini, James Kyson Lee and AnnaLynne McCord were also in attendance for the afternoon celebration.
“The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to help young people reach their full potential as caring, responsible adults and the money provided to us today on behalf of LG Mobile Phones will help with this goal — as donations are essential to building and sustaining the programs that enable us to make a real difference in the lives of local youth,” said Allan Young, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica.
The LG Xenon is available at AT&T retail stores nationwide and online at www.wireless.att.com for $99.99 with a new two-year agreement.

It’s been a long wait but whether it was worth it or not is for the interested AT&T subscribers to decide as they now have a new non-smartphone touchscreen cell phone to choose, the LG Xenon, which has now joined AT&T’s ranks now as promised. The Xenon, as we already know, should be an ideal match for anybody who’s into big-time texting (like that poor girl who just couldn’t stop) and email as it comes with a slide-out QWERTY keypad for easy thumb typing. There’s support for quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA (850MHz/2100MHz) networks along with WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB 2.0 adding up to nice set of connectivity options. Other features include a 2-megapixel camera, a 2.8-inch LCD display, and support for microSD up to 16GB (100MB onboard).
Look up AT&T to get the LG Xenon for $99 after a $50 rebate on a two-year contract.

Christmas has come and gone already and we now have a new release date of April 9 for the Xenon to appear on AT&T, but that shouldn’t stop LG from showing the GR500 off at the CTIA 2009 and us from bringing you another peek at this QWERTY-packing slider, right? So, here we are with a fresh batch of pictures courtesy of AVing. The specs have been gone over many times already but for those emerging from under a rock, the LG Xenon is a Quad-band EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA device that has a 2-megapixel camera, a microSD slot, Bluetooth and USB 2.0, WiFi, and a widget-based UI to go with its haptic touchscreen display. Let’s hope they stick to the release date this time. Continue reading for a few more pictures…

AT&T will finally launch that LG Xenon which we were waiting to arrive before Christmas. Pictures of the device have started to appear here and there around the Internet and the release is imminent. We’re looking at an April 9 launch according to AT&T.
The phone will come with a new OS, said to be similar to Smasung’s TouchWiz UI. Besides that, here’s what else you should expect from it:

The phone in the picture here is a QWERTY phone named GR500. Given the fact that LG hasn’t announce it yet officially, are we to assume that the GR500 is the LG Xenon? The Xenon should come with a 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen display, GSM and HSDPA connectivity, WiFi, A-GPS, a 3 megapixel camera and a memory expansion slot.
The phone will be available starting with April 10 from AT&T, but we don’t have any prices yet.

We are surprised this didn’t leak out much earlier, given that AT&T has been tinkering with the thing in its labs for some time now. May be LG and AT&T know a few more tricks than Nokia and Sony Ericsson who seem to be having considerable difficulty keeping future handsets under wraps. Anyways, the LG Xenon’s specs is pretty impressive with quad-band GSM, dual-band UMTS/HSDPA support, a 2.8-inch display of 240×480 resolution, Bluetooth 2.0, USB and WiFi connectivity, 100MB of internal space with up to 16GB of microSD expansion, and a sliding QWERTY keyboard underneath it all. There’s also the ubiquitous aGPS receiver and accelerometer with a proximity sensor to boot. With a name like Xenon, you think they would have snuck in a better lens, but this Xenon seems easily satisfied with a 3-megapixel camera. On the whole, not a bad package, which might be headed our way this Christmas at an unknown price.
