This PlayStation 3 we see here is the Slim version that was rumored for quite a while now. I don’t know if the actual shape or weight of a new console is such an important factor for you, but this Slim PS3 looks a lot better than some of its counterparts. And it’s not only the design that looks better now. The price has dropped too. The PS3 Slim will be available for just $300 which sounds about right. We’ve been waiting for a long time for Sony to decide to drop this particular price.
Should the Xbox and the Wii be afraid? Well that’s for analyst to say. In the mean time we know that the PS3 Slim is quieter and it will consume less power than the regular PS3. The $300 console will also offer you a 120GB 2.5 inch SATA drive, an optional vertical stand and it will measure only 11.42 x 2.56 x 11.42 inches and weigh 7.05 pounds.
What will you choose: Xbox 360, Wii, or PS3 Slim?

Does this surprise anyone? Well, it is a bit surprising as this move comes a little late in the game. Microsoft is about to launch a music store/service for the Zune and possibly the Xbox. According to Peter Bale, the executive producer of MSN, Microsoft is “looking at launching a music streaming service imminently.” The new service should be available sometime in August and it’s apparently going to be similar to Spotify. Will cell phone users be able to use it too?
The service will probably be offered for free as long as users agree to listen to ads every half hour. Is Microsoft going to reinvent the whole iTunes concept? Nothing is clear so far and we’ll be looking forward to see Steve Ballmer explain this to the crowd.

There is a new game set to come for iPhones soon and it is Droplitz from Blitz Arcade. The same game has already debuted on such famous platforms as Xbox Live, Playstation and the PC.
Droplitz is a game about connecting dials to save the precious droplitz dripping from the top of the screen. If you create multiple paths at the same time, you earn score combos and generate more droplitz.
“Droplitz is such a favorite in the studio and we’re really excited that players are getting their hands on it finally. Reaction so far has been great and we just want everyone out there to enjoy it as much as we do. It’s great working with such a passionate and enthusiastic publisher as Atlus, who share our excitement about this game.”
No definite date has been announced on its availability or price for the iPhone or iPod Touch.

Remember those Zune HD rumors from a while back ago? Well it looks like the device is really real. Microsoft has announced the Zune HD today and here’s what you can expect from it: 3.3-inch OLED capacitive touchscreen display, built-in HD radio and HD output. We could have some surprises when it comes to apps and games specially conceived for the Zune HD but we don’t have any precise details just yet.
We do know that the Xbox and Xbox Live will get Zune integration and the Zune marketplace will be filled with Live video resources. E3 should bring more information about the Zune HD’s capabilities and extra features. Microsoft is waiting for E3 to reveal more:
attendees will see first-hand how Zune integrates into Xbox LIVE creating a game-changing entertainment experience
By fall you should definitely be able to get the new Zune HD. Just in case you don’t want an iPod instead.

The next-gen console war is going to get a lot more uglier in 2008 by all indications. Nintendo’s Wii has already found its niche with its innovative and cool way of playing games with the Wiimote and Sony PS3’s superior hardware is slowly gaining ground, but where does the Xbox stand in 2008? The Xbox Elite and Premium were great successors but the next big step is yet to come. Sure enough, Microsoft isn’t lazing around but is working on its next version of the Xbox, dubbed “360 Ultimate.” If the rumors are to be believed, the new Xbox 360 Ultimate will boast features such as built-in WiFi, high-definition audio output, 1080p HDMI, 65nm hardware architecture, and a “near-silent” fan. It will also have a monstrous 320GB HDD to accommodate Xbox’s upcoming IPTV service. But the icing on the cake will be the built-in HD-DVD drive, giving Microsoft the much needed edge in the ongoing next-gen format war.
All this and much more will be revealed come this autumn 2008.
