The main name of these three new Chinese MP3 players is a bit strange - Yushchenko – but nonetheless they look pretty good, and should work perfectly too. Some might say they resemble other players, if you really look at the AY-P99 picture above it is easy to see the similarities with the Creative Zen Stone, don’t you think?
Anyhow, there aren’t many details about Yushchenko series so lets stick to what we know:
AY-P99 is compatible with 3 format files: MP3, WMA, and WAV. In the text department, it can work as an e-book reader and supports lyrics.
AY-P88 has a strange usability: there are only 3 buttons for all the functions. On the other hand, it has a microphone to record audio content, and FM radio.

The new Philips GoGear SA5225 digital audio/video player just cleared the FCC hurdle. The player handles WMV and MPEG4 video files as well as WMA and AAC audio files. It also has a picture viewer, and is capable of displaying album art. There’s an on-board FM radio receiver, while the recording utility lets you record not only voice memos but also FM audio.
The GoGear player can also stream audio and transfer files using Bluetooth wireless technology. The player features an Options button which throws up useful options depending on the current menu, as well as volume controls at the bottom. There’s a 5-way control point that lets you play/pause, skip forward/back and scroll up/down. It comes with a USB connector to aid in data transfer.
The Philips GoGear SA5225 can be charged over USB, which is convenient. It takes a good 4 hours for a complete charge (80% charge takes 2 hours).
No word on the pricing or availability, but check back with us for that later.

There are a couple of two new flash MP3 players from mpio. They seem to be mostly targeted at first-time users, seeing that they offer only flash memory, that too in the low capacities of 1GB and 2GB. The new models are the ML300 (1GB) and ML300 (2GB). With support for both MP3 (8 to 320 kbps) and WMA (32 to 355 kbps), a useful feature on the ML300s is the ability to record voice, which can be helpful in taking down notes and sudden bursts of idea.
Both models feature a blue-backlit 4-line display. When connected to your computer’s USB drive, it can double up as a mass storage device. There’s an added bonus in the form of an FM radio receiver. The built-in equalizer has 8 presets. mpio claims an audio playback time of about 15 hours on a single AAA alkaline battery, but YMMV.
Measuring 28.2mm x 19.3mm x 65.9mm, the mpio ML300 1GB and 2GB models weigh in at 23 grams and are available for ¥4,980 (US $44) for the 1GB model and ¥6,980 (US $62) for the 2GB model.
