We were wondering what the price for the Storm is going to be, especially after we’ve seen those super cheap Storms Vodafone is going to offer. Thanks to Verizon’s Wireless scavenger hunt which is going to take place in New York soon we can tell you that the Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Storm Price is $499. That’s what the ARV is, at least according to the terms and conditions page:
Prizes: Daily Grand Prizes (50): A BlackBerry “Storm” 9500 Smartphone and a $50 Verizon Wireless gift card Approximate Retail Value (”ARV”): $549 each
So if $499 is the full price it means Verizon might just offer the same good prices Vodafone does.

I didn’t follow Microsoft’s event today. I basically knew what was going to happen there since most of the stuff that got launched today was leaked earlier on. On top of that I was watching the other guy, telling it how it is in the MP3 world.

We’re not looking at keyboards every day but every once in a while we find something interesting. Here’s a keyboard from Japan. Not only is it wireless but it’s also powered by light. Just above the numeric keypad there’s an adjustable solar panel. Simply move it around to make the most of your light source. It will power up your keyboard immediately replacing those usual batteries. Sure you can run it on batteries too, but why not use the Sun’s energy instead?
Besides the regular keys you get a bunch of hotkeys for media and Internet applications. Now you will be able to simply write your emails and documents on this wireless keyboard while using the light in the room to charge it.
This 2.4GHz wireless device is available for $120. A good price since you will be saving quite a lot on batteries from now on. Just make sure you’re not working in the shadows.

By now you should already own and operate at least one wireless router. Managed correctly it can bring you dependable and secure wireless connectivity to your PC, laptops, handsets and gaming consoles. And I am sure you’re wishing your router was a simultaneous dual N wireless router. Why a dual N? Because such a router will be able to use both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz frequencies the same time. Why is that so cool? Because no matter what frequency your WiFi-ready device is using, you will be able to connect it to this router and enjoy faster N speeds.
Mani Dhillon, director of Linksys Consumer Business Organization says about their new WRT610N router:
There are products on the market that are framed as Dual-Band that allow access to only one band at a time or lose transmission speeds when both bands are in use. As consumers begin to use the 5GHz spectrum for their multimedia devices, it becomes more important to have access to the full capabilities of both bands.
That’s the product Linksys has just announced. Their WRT610N is a Simultaneous Dual-N Wireless Router now available online and in stores for prices between $170 and $199.

Why do I need an USB Modem? Well I like to backup my current ISP. It happens to go down exactly when I need it the most. And since I don’t always feel like going to the first WiFi cafe in town, I simply go online from my USB Wireless modem. And let’s not mention traveling. That’s when a good laptop battery and a fast 3G USB Modem come in handy.
If I were in the UK, I’d probably end up getting the Sierra Wireless Compass 885 USB Modem which is coming from O2. You will get fast 3G download speeds at 7.2Mbps while upload will go up to 2Mbps. You have the TRU-Install automatic software installation kit and, unlike other USB modems you will get a memory card slot. Carry important data and the Internet connection on the same device.

Could Google possibly go wireless? Well, this certainly comes to mind when they announced that they will participate in an auction of a portion of the wireless spectrum that will soon become available. If thats the case then a lot of people will definitely go berserk, both supporters and competitors.
The auction by the Federal Communications Commission has drawn some attention because it potentially will allow a company to build a nationwide wireless network - for a few billion dollars.
Google however has not yet said what it intends to do with its wireless spectrum, if it ends up being the highest bidder. However, Android OS smartphones, a mobile operating system currently being put together by the Open Handset Alliance, spearheaded by Google, are likely to be involved somehow.
The 700 MHz spectrum that’s going up for auction January 24, 2008 is currently being used by analog TV channels. All these have to go digital by February 19, 2009 though, freeing up this portion of the spectrum.
Anyone who has used an analogue TV should be aware that radio waves in this frequency range travel well over long distances and offer good penetration into buildings.

Here’s an interesting bit of information. As many as 70 percent of mobile professionals who responded to a survey rely on their cellular devices over PC or laptop for reliable web access on the go. While 90 percent of the nearly 300 people surveyed had a need to check email while away from the office, 70 percent have missed some or the other document due to unreliable Internet access on their laptops.
So what’s the solution, you ask? Well, it’s no coincidence that Quickoffice released the details of the survey. If you haven’t used their productivity product, I suggest you give it a try. I have it on my Nokia N73 and it’s handy as ever.

Verizon unveiled its latest line-up of hot mobile phones for the holiday season. The line-up includes:
Juke by Samsung
The Juke is a swivel-design mobile phone that you have to flick open 180 degrees to reveal the keypad. Available in s teeny-tiny form factor, the phone features 2GB of internal storage (fancy term for saying there is no support for additional storage). Verizon calls it a fashion-forward fancy phone (ooh), and the Juke, true to its name, handles MP3, WMA and unprotected AAC files.
Pity it comes with just a VGA camera though. Thankfully, Bluetooth stereo support is a saving grace.
BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Smartphone
The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Smartphone needs no introduction.
The Venus by LG
Available in black and pink, the Venus features dual front screens, with the lower portion offering touch input with vibration feedback, designed for quick access to the phone’s features. The Venus is also music-centric and comes in a slider design. With support for microSD memory cards up to 8GB, this is a decent phone compatible with Verizon’s Get It Now downloadable applications and V Cast Video and Music.
Venus can handle MP3/WMA/AAC files and comes with a 2 megapixel camera; it can record video as well.
The Voyager, also by LG
The Voyager is equipped with a large external touch screen. Open it up laterally and you get a QWERTY keypad to book. It features a web browser, music player and is compatible with high-speed wireless broadband access. Like the Venus, it features a microSD memory card slot for expanding memory up to 8GB.
No info on the pricing yet. The four phones will be available in stores before thanksgiving.
