The Japanese market has been hit by a new Windows Phone. It is made by Samsung and is entitled softbank X01SC.

The stype of the softbank X01SC resembles a blackberry device and boasts a QVGA 2.4-inch screen. The CPU is powered by a Qualcom MSM7225, and the additional features include bluetooth, WiFi.

One of the best goodies of the Samsung softbank X01SC is probably the dimensions, only 59.7×11.9×12.6mm for a device that can offer so much (Japanese style..).

  • Now here’s something cool that would find a nice home in any OS fan boy’s collection — What you see above are real life calculator concepts that mimic the virtual ones found in both Mac OS X and Windows. The Mintpass designer has done a great job with these showing off their virtual counterparts in the bottom corners of the images.

Would these ever hit retail? Most likely not because if they did the manufacturers would be looking at a hefty lawsuit. But hell, I’d buy one.

The last time we mentioned the iTG xpPhone was a about one month ago and at that time it didn’t have a clear & good image, nor any specific details.

But today the Chinese company that is creating the phone has release more information, such as the processor which will be an ADM “Super Mobile” and the memory RAM that can either have 512MB or 1GB. As for the storage options, you can pick a 8GB SolidStateDrive, or a normal 120GB HDD.

At this moment there is information about its price or release date, but according to previous statements the iTG xpPhone will be (when it gets released) the first cellphone running Windows XP as the operative system.

  • Windows Computer Spotted on TV

There’s no such thing as a Windows computer is it? Let alone a Microsoft made laptop! We would have surely heard about its existence already since most gadgets out there get leaked long before being officially unveiled.

However 30 Rock is clearly showing the device in question and the Windows logo is definitely recognizable. So what happened to all the Apple products on the show? Is 30 Rock celebrating the release of Windows 7 too? Whatever the case is, the computer in the picture here is definitely not a Mac wearing a Windows Logo.

What do you think? Will we see Steve Ballmer announce Microsoft computers soon?

Take a gander at this new Windows Phone ad that has been going around. Yes, it is disturbing to see gigantic humanoid versions of apps in this poor guy’s home, and I’m certain that if I saw those, I would run from my home screaming. The last thing I would be doing is holding up my Windows enabled Mobile phone and have them jubilantly come with me.

Yes, it is disturbing and confusing. Many have pointed out that there really isn’t a Windows phone, but a phone that supports Windows. The fact that it has the HTC Pure label on it is adding a little more confusion to the mix.

Microsoft has officially announced that their latest operating system, Windows 7, has been shipped to manufacturing.

This means, Windows 7 is done and closer than ever to hitting store shelves. In fact, Gizmodo reports that the finished product is so similar to the RC1 currently out that you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Here’s to hoping Microsoft can return Windows to greatness with Windows 7 after the brand had been tarnished with bad Vista publicity.

  • Microsoft have brought out a new Facebook client for Windows Mobile phones, and you don’t have to wait for Windows Mobile 6.5 to use it. This free app works on any 6.0, 6.1 or 6.5 smartphone, touchscreen or non-touchscreen, and permits full messaging, photo and video uploads and integration with the handset’s phone features to make calls direct from Facebook profiles.

The Facebook client for Windows Mobile also allows you to amend and edit your profile as well as add status updates. Facebook already has a mobile version arranged for small smartphone and cellphone displays, but the functionality tends to be somewhat limited compared to the desktop interface.  This new application, which is an 871kb CAB file download, should make navigating the site more effortless for Windows Mobile users

  • Safari 4 Beta Out in the Open

Apple has released a new version of its famous browser. Safari 4 Beta will come with a new Javascript engine, the Nitro, which is supposed to be 4.2x faster than Safari 3. The browser will come with new features like Top Sites which shows the most visited websites in a wall of previews. It will also have full history search and you can use Cover Flow to browse through the bookmarks. Safari 4 Beta will also bring you Smart Address Field and Smart Search Field. There’s also Full Page Zoom and Tabs on Top. The new browser will work on both Mac and Windows. As for Windows, Safari 4 Beta will bring you a new look which uses Windows standard font rendering and native title bars so that Safari will better integrate into Windows XP or Vista.

Test Safari 4 Beta for yourself until the final version comes out and tell us how it feels like. Will the iPhone get a new mobile browser too?

A Polish developer going by the handle of Marcin-PRV has done what can only be termed as useless, if not for a tiny dose of nostalgic introspection when Windows 3.1 brought us the graphic interface that we are so accustomed to today.  Using DOSBox, a freeware DOS emulator, he was able to port over the operating system from the days of yore by Microsoft and work on it too.  Not much utility there except for the “It can be done” factor, I guess.

While LG has announced its partnership with Microsoft, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will not create smartphones running other OS. And rumor has it that LG plans to release three Android phones by the end of the year. One should arrive by June while the other two should be announced in Q2. Unfortunately we have no idea what LG will actually launch but we hope they will have better success at designing Android phones than Kogan or Samsung did so far.

In case you are thinking about getting Windows XP PC from Dell, you will have to pay more for it starting today. An older model Windows XP PC will sell for $150 more than it used to sell for. Does this mean you have to give Vista a try? Well why pay $150 more as Vista 2 is around the corner. Might as well get used to Vista and adapt your budget for the future Windows 7.

  • Ok folks, take a seat for this one. Steve Ballmer did indeed announce the Microsoft Cloud earlier this month in what we could refer to a sudden sparkle of sanity. No matter if you believed him or not the cloud OS is upon us. And the name seems quite pleasant! We shall refer to it as the Windows Azure. This OS will probably be released together with Windows Vista 2 7, whenever that happens.

The announcement was made at this year’s Professional Developers Conference 2008 so we shall see more of it in the future. The Ballmer guy will surely enforce it. But let’s not judge beforehand! The Azure might actually work quite nice.

Ray Ozzie, Microsoft’s chief software architect said that the “Windows Azure is a new Windows offering in the Web tier of computing, a significant extension in the company’s family of platforms.” The Azure should help all developers createm deploy, manage and distribute web services and various application through the Internet. Wow, I mean that’s just wow! Are you still sitting down? We’ll see how the Azure develop in the future.

We don’t know when the new update is actually set to arrive and we don’t know all of its features but we have a general idea. The SP2 is said to add Windows Search 4.0, Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack, ability to record data on Blu-ray medua and Windows Connect Now for simpler WiFi configuration. Wow!
