Glu Mobile has announced the launch of new games for the Windows Market Place, mostly hit titles that include the Transformers and World Series of Poker Pro Challenge. These games are Glu Mobile’s showcase placement for the Windows Marketplace for Mobile worldwide launch set for October 6. With these two games at the forefront, the Windows Marketplace for Mobile may indeed be something to look forward to. Hopefully though, more popular games can be made available aside from these two popular game titles.

Apple has just recently celebrated the 1-year anniversary for their game-changing App Store and now, just a few days later, they are ready to release some numbers regarding the service. Make note that just about 3 months ago Apple announced that over 1 billion apps had been downloaded at that point.
According a recently released press release, over 1.5 billion apps have been dwonloaded from the service since it went live one year ago. Additionally, they have said that there are over 65,000 apps currently offered on to service and over 100,000 developers currently enrolled in the Developer program.
Will these numbers be too high for competitors like Microsoft and Palm to keep up? Only time will tell.

Back in February, Microsoft unveiled their answer to Apple’s App Store appropriately named Windows Marketplace. Months have since passed and yet there still wasn’t a solid release window.
Luckily, Microsoft has today taken to the time to announce that the service will officially go live for handsets running Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5 later this year. Furthermore, the company has also announced that they will begin accepting application submissions on July 27th.
Microsoft may be a late comer to the game with Apple, Google and Palm all launching their app services but considering there are ridiculous numbers of handsets running Windows Mobile, Windows Marketplace is sure to be a hit.

Are you really anxious to see Microsoft’s Windows Marketplace in action? Microsoft has decided to put together this video here to showcase their upcoming app store. Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary here. We will have tons of apps to choose from. We will be able to rate them, browse through them and buy the ones we like straight from our Windows phone. After downloading them we’ll also be able to ask for a full refund if we’re not exactly happy with them. How convenient, right?
And that’s about it. Microsoft’s Marketplace isn’t amazing in any way yet. We’ll be waiting for the official launch for more information. At least we enjoyed that HTC handset which got some free publicity out of this video.

Microsoft is just about ready to launch its own app store. And we have hot details for all those developers interested in the future Windows Marketplace. Microsoft will charge developers $99 to be accepted and $99 extra for every application they submit after 2009. This year devs will have the chance to submit five apps for free. Microsoft will charge that fees in order to “run a rigorous certification process to ensure that the end user’s experience is optimal, and that the device and network resources aren’t used in a malicious way.”
After your apps get approve, Microsoft will get 30% off any revenue generated by them. That’s the same percentage Apple and Google also charge. Windows Marketplace will arrive once Windows Mobile 6.5 gets launched in Q4 2009 but you’ll be able to register as a developer in Spring and start submitting your apps this Summer. What do you think? Anxious?
