Back in May, eBuddy was released mainly for the Android mobile platform. However today it makes its formal debut and compatibility to the iPhone offering a new app that will give users to ability to communicate with others using AIM, Facebook Chat, ICQ, Gtalk, Windows Live Messenger and similar communication apps.
Actually, the eBuddy app was already at the App Store as early as last week. It was not until now when it was promoted, bringing stiff competition to the likes of Nimbuzz and fring .
eBuddy differentiates its support for Apple’s Push Notification Service, which allows a third-party server to ping the service in order to push out notifications to your device over a persistent IP connection.

Why type when you can talk? That is apparently the new technology that IM+ now carries which can surely make mobile communications a whole lot easier. SHAPE has joined forces with Yap Inc., pioneer of the first fully automated voice-to-text platform, to add the first of its kind, thumbs-free message dictation feature to IM+ for BlackBerry smartphones.
IM+ with speech recognition will allow users to dictate their instant messages and send them as text to their contacts in Facebook, AIM/iChat, MSN/Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, ICQ, Jabber, Google Talk and MySpaceIM. Recent studies indicate that over 70% of consumers prefer using voice to interact with their mobile devices rather than typing. Speech-enablement increases message creation speed and greatly improves the usability of instant messaging on mobile devices.
The beta version of IM+ with voice recognition will be showcased at this week’s Wireless Enterprise Symposium (WES) in Orlando, Florida, and the full release is expected at the end of May 2009.

The HP iPAQ has been completely redesigned to produce a stylish mobile phone that is bound to get a lot of attention. The HP iPAQ Voice Messenger certainly looks the part.
It looks similar in stature to the RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smart phone. Build quality feels solid, though the rear casing does squeak slightly when pressed and the glossy chrome finish on the rear is a fingerprint magnet.
The iPAQ Voice Messenger smartphone includes all the programs and features of Windows Mobile 6.1, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word Mobile applications, Windows Media Player, Google Maps and a range of PIM functions. It’s easy to configure for use with Microsoft Exchange, and you can also use standard POP3 and IMAP e-mail accounts, including Gmail and Yahoo! Mail. A suite of Windows Live applications includes Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail.
HP’s iPAQ Voice Messenger smartphone wins points for its looks, but not all of the design changes are welcomed. The optical controller is mediocre and the keypad is flat, making an otherwise competent handset frustrating to use.
