In case you haven’t heard about WIND then you should know it’s a new carrier getting ready for the Canadian market. We don’t have that many details about it at this point but it looks like WIND has big plans for the future. Its smartphone lineup has been conveniently leaked so we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from it in the following months.
WIND will launch its 3G network and here are some of the phones it will sell soon: BlackBerry Bold 2 9700, HTC Snap, Huawei U8220 and a QWERTY slider phone from Samsung.
There are no pricing details and launch dates at this point but we’ll keep you in the loop. And if you’re already interested in WIND then you’ll be pleased to know that the new carrier is planning to start everything with three price plans that don’t require any signing of a predetermined contract. Any comments?

At this point in the mobile world, RIM’s BlackBerry Bold is so last year. The phone was launched in 2008 but since then RIM has announced lots of new Berries to play with. If you must insist with the Bold then take a second to consider a white version of it. Sure it’s the same phone under a differently colored hood, but it looks totally original. The Bold in the picture here was apparently sent by RIM to the York University in Canada where Telus and Wind happen to do some testing from time to time. We have no idea if and when a white BlackBerry Bold will be launched but we’re totally going to keep you updated.

Pantech has a new mobile phone ready, the IM-S410/IM-S410K. This one is a slider that can be controlled by puffing at it. But what if the wind blows the wrong way? Will the phone start to translate it into some kind of command? The phone will be available from SKY and KTF in Korea.
The IM-S410/SM410K is the first phone in the world featuring wind recognition. Blowing some air into the phone will let you control the standby screen, images and photos, video calls and maybe more. I am not sure I’d have enough air to make it perform. Luckily the keypad is still present so you’ll have an alternative to blowing air towards it.

Still waiting to get yourself a netbook? Maybe the U115 from MSI might interest you. This new WIND comes with the world’s first hybrid-storage system. You get an 8GB solid state drive which you can use it to improve performance while the 160GB HDD will be your mass storage drive. Besides the storing options you have the usual 1.6GHz Atom CPU, a 10 inch display, a built-in card reader and WiFi support.
Are you ready to go hybrid? Come to think of it, you probably were storing your bulk data on an external HDD with the previous MSI Wind notebooks, weren’t you?

It looks like MSI and their Wind are taking the path to the Dark Side. Remember how Asus started pissing everyone off by labeling their Eee trademark on whatever gadget as long as it was small and computer related? We have the Eee mini laptop line, the Eee Monitor, the Eee Box, the Eee Stick. Are we to see the Wind Monitor, or the Wind Stick? Because the Wind Desktop PC is here.
I understand the need for a laptop to be really strong while really easy to move around. What’s the point in creating a really portable desktop? Besides dropping the price? I’m not going to take it with me am I? Sure I will get a few more inches of free space around my workplace, but do I really need it?
Let’s see what MSI has in mind for their Wind desktop line. The mini desktop should sell anywhere from $200 to $300 and it will be released in Asia and Europe in July while the USA will get it in September.
The full specs aren’t available for now but the Wind desktop should pack a 1.6GHz Intel Atom, up to 2 GB of RAM, up to 160GB hard drive, WiFi and a DVD drive.
Want one? Yeah, me neither!

I’ve been making a little fun of small laptops all day. Sure they are small, they are affordable, they are really mobile, they are pretty fast, but they are small. Here’s something that made me reconsider their power. An MSI Wind has been hacked and tricked into believing it’s a Mac when in fact it isn’t.
