Akhibara News got a chance to play around with the smallest Vista-toting UMPC, the D4 from Willcom, which is based on Sharp’s WS016SH. The MID has a slide-out keyboard and a 5-inch touchscreen, good enough to watch OneSeg digital TV available in Japan. Akhibara come out feeling satisfied about the device, albeit the 1.33GHz Centrino Atom proved a bit too slow to handle Vista Home Premium, but given that it was only an almost ready prototype they were testing, there might be a few changes to solve this issue. With 1GB of RAM, 40GB HDD, and a 2-megapixel camera, there is also WiFi, Bluetooth, and mini-USB completing its connectivity options.
The Willcom D4 is set for a release in the second quarter of 2008. No price details are available yet. Go ahead and take a look at the video after the break.
