There are fanboys and then there are fanboys; this next item is for the latter ones who still debate whether Princess Leia had a thing for Luke Skywalker or not.  StarWarsShop now offers Wii players a chance to embrace the dark side of the force with the Darth Vader Sensor Bar Holder, which is modeled around Vader himself holding a lightsaber that supports the Wii Sensor Bar.  The Darth Vader sculpture is made of resin and staying true to the mythology, the lightsaber is blood red.  A must-have for die-hard Star Wars fans who would like to have their favorite antihero of all time in their living room, minus the asthmatic wheezing.  Going now for $50.

  • It looks like Sony’s PlayStation 3 Slim was the thing Nintendo needed to cut down the price of its popular Wii console by $50. If you want to play motion controlled games you can get the Wii right now or the iPhone 3GS for the same price. The Wii’s new and very official price is $199.99, and although its graphics could be significantly improved, it still offers a better gaming experience than the iPhone or iPod touch when it comes to motion controlled games.

And that’s $100 less than the PS3 Slim! It will be interesting to see if Nintendo can stop the Slim’s popularity. Sony has sold over 1 million Slim consoles in less than three weeks and it’s getting ready to launch the 250GB PS3 Slim version. So what will you choose now folks? The cheaper Wii or the smaller Slim?

This PlayStation 3 we see here is the Slim version that was rumored for quite a while now. I don’t know if the actual shape or weight of a new console is such an important factor for you, but this Slim PS3 looks a lot better than some of its counterparts. And it’s not only the design that looks better now. The price has dropped too. The PS3 Slim will be available for just $300 which sounds about right. We’ve been waiting for a long time for Sony to decide to drop this particular price.

Should the Xbox and the Wii be afraid? Well that’s for analyst to say. In the mean time we know that the PS3 Slim is quieter and it will consume less power than the regular PS3. The $300 console will also offer you a 120GB 2.5 inch SATA drive, an optional vertical stand and it will measure only 11.42 x 2.56 x 11.42 inches and weigh 7.05 pounds.

What will you choose: Xbox 360, Wii, or PS3 Slim?

As expected Microsoft has done it! The company has a new console ready to take advantage of your every move and gesture. Called Project Natal, the new console will be available in stores next year, although there’s no definitive date just yet. We have no prices either but by 2010 Steve Ballmer should definitely uncover more hot details about the new gadget. For now he has confirmed to those present at The Executives Club of Chicago that the Xbox 360 motion control interface will be available in 2010. Ready for some competition all mighty Wii?

Sony to Drop Playstation 3 Price?

This is a nice but unexpected surprise! In case that there still are PlayStation 3 lovers out there, they should know that Sony might finally drop the price. According to rumors such a move will be made at the same time EA Sport will release the next Madden version this fall so you’ll still have to wait a while before getting a cheaper Playstation 3.

Considering that the PS3 has been trailing behind the Wii and the Xbox 360 for a while now, Sony should definitely charge less for it. Or can we go ahead and speculate that a new PlayStation console is going to arrive soon and therefore the price cut is absolutely necessary?

To tell you the truth I am not sure what this Zii Steamcell Computing from Creative is. For now it’s just a teaser page and a link to Zii. com that says “Everything you know is about to change…”

So what is it? Is it a new gaming platform? Should we imagine a competitor for the Wii? It’s awfully similar to the Wii in terms of text fonts. Do we want a product similar to Wii from Creative? Will it have the same success? Will it be cheaper? And what’s with all that Steamcell Computing? When will we have some answers?

So many questions, so little time!

Looking for a Wii for Christmas

Bad news for all of you out there craving for a Wii! Gamestop’s CFO David Carlson declared that the Wii is in ”very good supply” at the time being, but that it’s probably not going to be next month. I guess, if you want to get yourself a Nintendo Wii go get it while it’s there! Same case scenario with ”Wii Fits” or the ”Guitar Hero”.

So run to the first store, get your copy and hide it in the closet until Santa comes! Or make sure Santa knows he has to buy the console for you right about now!

Nintendo Introduces the Wii Speak Channel

Nintendo has announced a new feature built specifically for social gaming - the new Wii Speak Channel. The Wii Speak Channel allows users to keep in touch with friends and family a whole lot easier. The new service will be launched across Europe on December 5th this year and will connect users with the free-to-use Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

However, this isn’t a one-to-one personal chat feature. Wii Speak will connect directly to the console and pick up the conversation from an entire room of people meaning the fun - and also the arguments - are shared all around. This feature will also bring the user’s Mii to life - as each personal character will appear on screen to represent that specific user, it will also speak in time with what the user says.

    Download DS Games via Wii

    nintendo_logo.jpeg

Nintendo sure does know how to make us spend. This new feature is almost like saying that the Wii and the DS should be a two-in-one package deal. Anyhow, if you have both the Wii and the DS, time will come when you can download DS games with the Wii’s broadband connection. You can then transfer the games via wireless connectivity.

“Mr. Fils-Amie said that future DS device will be more tightly integrated with its Wii console,” reports the New York Times.

“Complete games as well as [demos] will be able to be downloaded into the Wii using its broadband connection, and then transferred wirelessly to the DS,” the paper adds.

    Coming Soon: Xbox 360 Ultimate

    360.jpg

The next-gen console war is going to get a lot more uglier in 2008 by all indications. Nintendo’s Wii has already found its niche with its innovative and cool way of playing games with the Wiimote and Sony PS3’s superior hardware is slowly gaining ground, but where does the Xbox stand in 2008? The Xbox Elite and Premium were great successors but the next big step is yet to come. Sure enough, Microsoft isn’t lazing around but is working on its next version of the Xbox, dubbed “360 Ultimate.” If the rumors are to be believed, the new Xbox 360 Ultimate will boast features such as built-in WiFi, high-definition audio output, 1080p HDMI, 65nm hardware architecture, and a “near-silent” fan. It will also have a monstrous 320GB HDD to accommodate Xbox’s upcoming IPTV service. But the icing on the cake will be the built-in HD-DVD drive, giving Microsoft the much needed edge in the ongoing next-gen format war.

All this and much more will be revealed come this autumn 2008.
