We have previously reported how the Unreal Gaming Engine was running on the iPhone, and it is now running on webOS.
So if you have a Palm, you might be able to run some really cool games in speeds of up to 1 fps. I suppose that this should give mobile gaming a boost, won’t it?
So what’s next for the Unreal gaming engine? A trip down iPad lane? I’m guessing yes. It will probably look pretty impressive there.

There is a new version of webOS available to the owners of a Palm Pre or Palm Pixi smartphone, which will fix a lot of bugs as well as bring some surprises.
With the webOS v1.4 the Time Zone bug is fixed, as well as the bluetooth car-kit transition problem. Other bugs that were fixed include the random browser formatting, and a Missing Contact issue.
As for the new features, the Palm Pre owners get the Flash support in the browser which will become available as a plug-in, and other features include an improved notification and email system, and a better performance when making calls.

Groovershark is a popular online music service that provides access to a big number of songs, and recently they have announced the launch of a native application for webOS. As you might already know this is not the first online music service for WebOS owners, but it is always nice to have an alternative.
The Grooveshar will become available at the App Catalog in the upcoming weeks, and Palm Pre owners as well as Pixi owners will have access to it very soon too.

Now that Palm’s webOS is on both Sprint and Verizon and is rumored to be coming to AT&T, that leaves only T-Mobile. Now, rumors have arose that T-Mobile and Palm are working to bring a webOS to their carrier, as well.
There’s no word on whether or not this will be a brand new device or just a beefed up Pre or Pixi, like on Verizon, but we’ll have to wait and see how this one unfolds.

What you see above is supposedly a leaked document sent by a Sprint technician. If you break out the magnifying glass, you’d be able to see that February 15th is the date that the Palm Pre and Pixi will be getting their operating systems updated to version 1.4. If you weren’t aware, webOS 1.4 is the update that features the highly sought after video recording capabilities.
This rumor is far from confirmed at this point but February 15th is only 5 days away so we’ll find out soon enough.

While Palm’s webOS is a beautiful mobile operating system, one thing that keeps it trailing the iPhone is the lack of quality apps available for download. In the past, we made note that Palm would be focusing on remedying this even signing a few high profile game studios in the process.
Well today we have the first proof of that with the release of Assassin’s Creed for the App Catalog. If you’re a gamer, you know what this is, if not you basically just walk around, adventure, kill people and so on. And yes, it’s damn fun.
The game is available now for $6.99 but unfortunately for your Pixi and Pixi Plus owners, this game only runs on the Palm Pre.

While both Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus handsets got announced late last week, the only way to obtain them was to head into a Verizon Wireless store, but what fun is that? Now, the two webOS powered handsets have officially found their way onto the Verizon website where you’ll be able to purchase them.
However, make note that despite the fact that we told you the buy one get one free deal will be for both handsets, it appears that Verizon is only offering it with the Pixi Plus. Perhaps we just need to give them a bit more time to get everything situated before we see the deal appear.

We posted about the new Palm Pre WebOS update, 1.3.5.2, which went live in Europe yesterday, and now it seems a new feature was added after all: Bluetooth tethering. This comes after Palm announced tethering for WiFi on the Pre, which we’d always prefer over Bluetooth.

Until a few days ago there was no way to record and share videos in webOS devices, but Palm has made an announcement that will change that deficiency.
Starting in February all the webOS devices will be able to record and share videos with other devices of the same kind. Think of the editing video tool that exists on the iPhone, because that’s what the webOS is going to have.
With that being said, users will be able to upload the video to YouTube, Facebook and other social media sites, as well as editing the video on the device.

Traditionally, when Quake is ported to a new handheld device a whole slew of developers are in tow with their own offerings. And, while the game has made its debut on a plethora of different handsets, the Palm Pre and webOS platform in general have yet to see a version.
Well, it was only a matter of time until someone ported to game to webOS and that time is now. Included above is a video demo of the game on a Palm Pre.
Sure, it’s a big laggy and buggy but the point here isn’t usability, its proof of concept. Let’s see what the community does with this.

Palm CEO Jon Rubinstein has today confirmed that an update is going to be pushed out at some point in the near future for their webOS mobile operating system.
The update will bring the software to version 1.3.5 and will offer improved battery life, speed and WiFi strength. Additionally, Rubinstein commented on bringing their devices to other carriers:
“We don’t believe in building large portfolios of products. Our focus is around having a small family of really great products. Right now we have two great products in Pre and Pixi and our objective right now is to expand with more carriers and more regions.”

Now here’s a cool idea we haven’t seen before — Gizmodo reports that Palm has just launched their in-browser app development client. But what exactly does this mean, you ask?
Well, it essentially lets people develop apps for webOS directly in their browser, as you can see from the above screen shot. If this software is usable, we can see a whole slew of new apps being made available for the Pre and Pixi.
Apple? Are you paying attention?

Well, it seems that a Palm manufactured webOS powered device is inevitably coming to Verizon soon as the carrier has reportedly started internal training for the operating system.
As you can see from the above screenshot, the training begins on December 15th and ends on November 20th focusing on ‘Why Palm?’ and ‘What is webOS?’. This leads us to believe that Verizon will soon after begin a marketing campaign for Palm and webOS and are preparing their employees for the onslaught of consumer questions that will soon follow.
But that leads us to our next question; what webOS device is Verizon getting, and when.

If you’ve been dying to see the Palm Pixi in the flesh getting taken from its retail package your dreams have been answered as WireFly has just uploaded a video showing just that.
Of course, just like every other unboxing video, it’s not a very interesting video but if you’d like to see what you will be getting when you purchase Palm’s second webOS device, this video is for you.
Of course, you won’t be able to get your hands ont he device until it drops on November 15th for Sprint at $99.

Sprint is really interested in selling the Pixi at any cost. In fact it would seem that the carrier has forgotten one important fact about the new Palm webOS phone: the Pixi lacks WiFi support which is a pretty annoying thing in the first place. But Sprint is announcing the fact that the Pixi is “WiFi capable.” As much as we’d like to imagine that the Pixi will arrive with WiFi support, that will not be the case this time. Maybe the future webOS Palm phone will offer WiFi but the Pixi won’t be able to sport such capabilities. So, Sprint, what do you have to say in your defense?

Palm Pixi is now an official Sprint and in case you’re still not sure about buying one then maybe this little info will help. Well it’s mostly a rumor but it looks like the new webOS phone will come with a new OS version. The new software will bring you more features although we still don’t know what they are. Rumors say that the next OS built is either 1.2.9 or 1.3. Currently the Pre is running version 1.2.1 which means we could be in for a lot of changes once the new OS hits. What do you say Pre owners? Are you ready for a new webOS version?
Naturally there are no release dates announced yet but we might just see the Pixi come with the new OS on board. We’ll tell you more about the new webOS once it becomes available.

A Twitter app known as Twee has finally hit Palm’s App Catalog. You can get a free version of this app, which can support photos such as TwitPic, yfrog, TweetPhoto, and Img.ly and track TwitTrends with Twitturly. It also lets you preview a thumbnail of a friend’s image URL without opening it. As for the $2.99 Twee pro, it is perfect for those who have multiple Twitter accounts and receive local tweets from 1 to 250 miles. Of course, Twee isn’t the only WebOS Twitter app, but time will tell if it will be the best-selling.

Verizon Wireless has just updated their Twitter feed letting us know that the Palm Pre will be hitting the carrier earlier than we expected.
As you can see from the above screen shot, Verizon expects to have the Palm Pre “early next year”. Exactly when early next year remains a mystery but at least those webOS fiends on Verizon now have something to look forward to.
