Sony Ericsson has released two new Walkman phones. One is the W715 which we have already seen and the other is the W508 Walkman mobile phone.

As with the W715, the W508 will come with the SenseMe and TrackID technology. Shake and Gesture control are also present. That means you’re going to get the same Walkman experience. But let’s take a look at this phone’s specs:

  • One extra Style-Up cover in the box
  • Walkman player
  • Touch music keys on top – switch tracks the easy way
  • TrackID with text search – find your favourite songs in seconds
  • PlayNow arena – customise your mobile phone with unique ringtones and wallpapers
  • Shake control– skip through your tracks with a flick of the hand
  • Gesture control - Move your hand above the W508 to mute an incoming call or put the alarm clock on snooze without touching it.
  • quad band EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
  • HSDPA 850/1900/2100 for the W508a and HSDPA 2100 for the W508
  • two colors: Metal Grey and Poetic White
  • 1GB Memory Stick Micro
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with 3.2x digital zoom
  • Bluetooth stereo A2DP

Sony Ericsson has two phones ready to enter the North American market. These are the C510a CyberShot handset which will arrive sometime this quarter while the W508a Walkman phone will arrive in Q2.

The W508a Walkman is a clamshell phone:

  • 100MB internal memory
  • Memory Stick Micro (M2)
  • 400/300 hours stand-by, 10/4 hours talk-time (EDGE/3G), 24 hours MP3 playback, 2 hours video calling
  • Available in Metal Grey or Poetic White with eight interchangeable faceplates
