All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

After we’ve seen the Rachael teaser yesterday, today we get a glimpse of its user interface. The Sony Ericsson phone is going to be released on Tuesday, November 3 but it looks like Sony Ericsson wants us to see more and more of its capabilities already.

In this demo you’ll see how Rachael deals with multimedia files. The video shows how the Android phone plays music and videos for you and you can’t say that you’re not impressed with what Sony Ericsson has cooked up. If you own a Zune then the UI will seem familiar as some influences are pretty clear. But that doesn’t make the interface less interesting!

In remains to see the real thing in action. The video is conceptual and for internal use only so the Rachael might look completely different. We’ll tell you all about the Xperia X3 once it becomes official. Just a few more days to wait!

  • Sony Ericsson Rachael Video Leaks

Next Tuesday Sony Ericsson is going to launch its first Android device, the Xperia X3 aka Rachael. Although most people are busy pre-ordering the Droid from Verizon, they should really stop and see what this Rachael phone is all about. The teaser above has been officially leaked and the handset looks pretty interesting. Sure 20 seconds of video featuring a turned-off device isn’t enough for us, is it? But at least we know the Rachael looks better than expected. All we need now are some decent specs and a matching personality and we might just have a Droid competitor on our hands!

If you ask me, I guess it was about time for Microsoft to stand up for itself and take a proper hit at Apple. And this time they have managed to come up with a funny video too. The video is a great response to Apple’s “Get a Mac” campaign.

Microsoft is targeting the App Store and it’s making fun of some of those ridiculous apps that can be downloaded to iPhones and iPod touches right now. In this rejected Windows Marketplace video Microsoft makes two important points. First of all the App Store is filled with unnecessary apps and second, Apple is well knows for the way it choose to approve or banish apps from its store.

But after we’ve had a couples of laughs and shared it with our friends, we still have to acknowledge the fact that Apple’s App Store is way better than Microsoft’s Marketplace, at least for now. And Microsoft is surely wishing for a Marketplace filled with at least half the ridiculous apps found in the App Store! You see, Microsoft, you actually need to perform better than the competition in order for any funny video to really work!

If you were dying to know how Nokia’s N900 handled the web you can stop because a video has hit the web showing off the handset’s web browser.

This web browser is based on work done by Mozilla and I have to say it handles the web quite will with snappy response times, full Flash support and a control scheme similar to one we’ve all come to know and love with Apple’s iPhone.

Anyways, watch the video and let us know what you think of it in the comments.

    HTC Imagio gets video preview

Talk about the HTC Imagio has been happening for a while now nd have had pictures of the device in tow. What we haven’t seen, however, is a full blown video preview of the device until now, that is.

Above we’ve included said video preview of the device where you’ll be able to oogle at the beauty of Windows Mobile 6.5 if you don’t distracted by the previewer’s finger nails, that is.

For those of you who want to get their hands on the actual device, you’ll have to wait until October 6th.

Sprint just officially announced yesterday that they were gearing up to launch the Samsung Instinct HD on September 27th for $249.99. Now, considering the fact that it is priced so high when compared to the nature of the device you will most likely never get your hands on it.

Thankfully, a YouTube user was nice enough to give us a full hands on preview of the device showcasing features like the preloaded applications (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc) and the location of that HD video out port.

Anyways, check out the video and let us know what you think of it in the comments.

Yesterday we showed you the iTwinge physical iPhone keyboard accessory that promised to remedy the gripes many users had with the handset’s onscreen keyboard. However, you couldn’t really judge the iTwinge by the picture has there was no telling if it did what was promised.

Luckily, the above video has been released by the manufacturers showing off just how well the iTwinge works and I must say, it looks to work quite well. For those of you willing to drop $30 for an iPhone physical keyboard alternative the iTwinge seems the way to go.

It looks like Seth The Blogger Guy is probably the only blogger that’s not angry with AT&T for some reason. In this 3-minute video he explains why AT&T’s network is not as speedy as its customers want it to be and he’s saying that AT&T is working around the clock to offer a better, faster network in the future. Well then maybe AT&T should consider changing some of their ads, to reflect the real potential of their current network and not tell everyone how AT&T’s network is really fast.

One more important thing this short video confirms is the availability of MMS messaging on the iPhone. AT&T has been working for months to prepare “the radio access controllers in our network to support this launch.”

So what have we learned so far? Well AT&T is certainly not the best network out there but the future might look a lot better. Let’s see what happens when AT&T looses that iPhone exclusivity! Will people move to other carriers? Such a thing will definitely improve the quality of AT&T’s data transfer speeds…

  • Sony’s VAIO X caught on video

Earlier today we notified you of the Vaio X’s existence but weren’t able to secure many pictures of the device seeing as it was announced so recently. Now, however, our friends over at Netbook News have gotten their hands on Sony’s device at this year’s IFA only to give us an in depth look at it.

As mentioned earlier, this device is extremely thin at just 14mm and is rumored to feature an Intel Atom processor making for an extremely long battery life.

No official word of a release date but it will reportedly ship next month coupled with Windows 7.

Remember that BlackBerry Storm 2 video that described in great detail the new Storm? Well we have another one and this time the video will show you how the touchscreen really works. It looks like the Storm 2 will use piezo electronics to detect pressure on the screen. The screen’s surface seems to be more rigid while the phone is locked and spongy-like while the phone is turned on. The video above has all the secrets of the Storm 2 and there’s even a comparison between the Storm 2 and the original Storm 1.

If you didn’t know, the Qik iPhone 3GS application has been available for some time now and lets you view and upload videos taken with your phone to a number of different places. Another feature found in the software is the ability to stream content that your friends have uploaded. However, that feature was previously only available over WiFi.

Today, however, the app has been updated, unlocking the ability to stream video using nothing more than a 3G connection. We’ll have to see how AT&T takes to this one.

TomTom has recently released the above video to hype consumers of their forthcoming iPhone car kit bundle. This kit is for use with the TomTom GPS iPhone app that recently hit the App Store for $100.

As you can see, this bundle will give the iPhone’s GPS a boost while also charging the device in the windshield mounted dock. Add that to the dock’s built-in microphone for hands free calling and the ability to play music out of you car’s speakers and you have yourself a deal.

Unfortunately, we still have no word of a release date or price for the bundle.

Lucky for you, Verizon customers, the carrier has recently announced that the BlackBerry Storm will officially be getting V CAST Video support today.

To utilize the feature, all you have to do is download the V CAST software onto your device and pay the $10 monthly fee and you’ll be streaming live video in no time.

Included above is a video demonstration of HTC’s unreleased TouchFlo 3D 2.6 Windows Mobile UI that is destined for a debut on the HTC Leo.

As you can see, the UI bares a slight resemblance to HTC’s Sense Android UI found on devices such as the HTC Hero in the sense that it’s beautiful, practical and fine to use with your fingers. Those worrying about your TouchFlo 3D touting devices not being able to support this new UI need not worry as the update is to be mostly aesthetic.

LG BL40 gets demoed on video

We’ve seen an official unveiling, we’ve seen promotional videos and we’ve seen FCC filings, but what we haven’t seen is someone actually get their hands on the device. What I bring to you above is a full video rundown of the LG BL40 done by mobiles.co.uk.

As you can see, the BL40’s 4″ wide screen is just as beautiful in real life as it looked in those promotional shots. Among various features showcased in the video, one feature that stands out to me is the web browsing which completely makes use of the whole screen.

Perhaps the iPhone will finally be getting a run for its money with this one.

We have another weird Palm Pre commercial for you folks. We have no idea how many Pres have been sold from the beginning of the season since Sprint hasn’t come out with any numbers so far but we have to assume that Palm wishes to sell even more Pre handsets. Why else would they continue their ad campaign? The newest available video is called My Phone Can Read My Mind. Did you like it?

First of all, no phone can read anyone’s mind and we’d probably not feel comfortable with a machine knowing what we actually think. Second of all, Palm should consider changing the whole script. After all, I, as an average consumer, would love to see why the Pre is better than any other offer. Maybe the Pre is the fastest phone available on the most dependable network available. Or something like that! In which case I might go to a Sprint store and get one. But if it’s a phone that can read my mind I might not be that interested in it, will I?

  • What you see above is a video demo of the forthcoming Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2. Sure, the video is blurry, shakey and the person using the phone doesn’t really do anything of interest but at least it gives us a hint as to what expect when the handset drops at an unannounced date.

Below are the rumored specs of the XPERIA X2:

N97 vs HTC Touch Pro2 Showdown

Stars in their respective classes, we know many of you are still scratching your heads on whether to go with the HTC Touch Pro2 or the Nokia N97.  Being an erstwhile Nokia user and a current HTC owner, I respect and like the quality of the both comapnies’ products, so I may not be the right guy to show you the way, but TeknoReview has put up a great video to help you out with just that, an all-out showdown between the two flagship smartphones, baring their features down for you in 12 whole rounds.  So, without further ado, here is the video:

  • Visual voicemail has been out for some time now on phones such as the iPhone, Samsung Instinct and various Blackberry models. However, most handsets running Google’s Android operating system haven’t gotten the same love.

Luckily, T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G will in fact include visual voicemail and the TmoNews has been kind enough to demo the software for us. You can view 3 videos of the service, here.

Once this software is up and working, the question remains if it will be ported to other Android devices. I guess only time can tell at this point.

LG BL40 gets a promo video

You know, we could have waited till August to feast our eyes on the Chocolate successor, and if LG had been able to keep this promotional video under wraps for just a few more days, they could have had the grand opening that they had planned for.  The authenticity of the above video is debatable, but the video itself looks professional enough and confirms many of the features that we heard about a while back and more.  According to the promo, the BL40, the fourth cellphone in LG’s Black Label series, will have a huge 4-inch (not 3 inches like we heard the last time) touchscreen display that is not only capable of 800×345 pixel resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio, but can do multi-touch too.  Other rumored features like a 5-megapixel camera, HSDPA 7.2Mbps support, and WiFi are all accounted for and the Flash-based 3D interface looks like a joy to touch through.  A worthy iPhone competitor or not, the BL40 sure looks like a great heir to the ever popular LG Chocolate.  Watch the video above and tell us if you think the same too!
