  • Now a days, a stand alone videophone would seem like a waste of money considering you can’t do anything with it besides make video calls. However, 20-30 years ago, such a device would be the most amazing thing ever. Well, it seems that ASUS is a bit late as they have recently shown off the above AiGuru SV1T videophone for use with Skype.

Honestly though, this the AiGuru SV1T videophone is a pretty nifty device with an 800×480 7-inch touchscreen display, WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, a VGA webcam, microphone and speakers.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that it will probably be priced right around $300, it will most likely never come off because why buy one of these when you can jut get a netbook for the same price that does the same thing, plus more?

What you see here is Suzuki’s (not the automaker) 701 MNI netbook that was recently announced. Under the hood this device will feature an Intel Atom processor, up to 4GB of RAM, 3 USB ports, a VGA Port, Expresscard slot, WiFi, 56k modem, 5-in-1 card reader, Bluetooth and WiFi.

The thing that makes this netbook worth your time is its 7″ swivel display that also features a touchscreen. Unfortunately there was no mention of a price or release window for Suzuki’s 701 MNI netbook.

It seems that Kopin Corporation have managed to create what they are calling the world’s smallest VGA LCD display. At just 0.27-inches, I’m not arguing, but the fact that this little guy has a resolution of 600×480 makes this a true breakthrough.

But why? Well, prior to this manufacturers haven’t been able to cram that many pixels into such a small display. In fact, the pixels used are about the size of a human’s red blood cell, now that’s small! Kopin also noted that they are working towards creating a 2048×2048 display no larger than a postage stamp.

Why you would ever need such a small display to display such a high definition picture, I don’t know, but it sure is cool.

Lenovo is proud to introduce their IdeaPad S12, a budget laptop/netbook which they are saying is the first one to feature NVIDIA’s new Ion chipset.

    Starting at just $499, the IdeaPad S12 will feature a 1280 x 800 LED-backlit 12.2-inch screen, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and the option for a 160, 250, or 320 GB HDD.

Lenovo says this thing will be able to play 1080p video without breaking a sweat and that along with WiFi, Bluetooth, 3 USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot, VGA and HDMI ports and a 4-in-1 card reader make for quite the little machine. Oh yeah, did I mention it has a fullsized keyboard and Windows XP?
