  • More and more mobile carriers want in on music events and music deals. Verizon has just released the V Cast with Rhapsody which seems to be a pretty clear anti iTunes move. Now it appears that Vodafone wants to work with MySpace to offer a social networking and music kind of application for mobiles.

This right here is an association I wouldn’t have foreseen. But Vodafone has apparently signed an agreement with MySpace to offer the Vodafone Music Reporter, “online global interactive platform” which will let Vodafone customers to share photos videos and commentary on Vodafone Music Unlimited events. The service will be available in Europe for now, in countries like Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.

So it’s nothing like the V Cast or iTunes. It’s something totally different. Imagine being at a concert this summer and having your mobile video picked up and broadcast to other mobile users of the Vodafone Music Reporter. And such a service will certainly not come free. We don’t know prices of an eventual release date yet but we will send them your way once they get leaked.

  • Once upon a time, football fans were the quintessential examples of couch potatoes in mainstream media. As of late, the image of mobility has extended to the erstwhile couch potatoes, especially now that CBS Mobile, Fox Mobile and ESPN Mobile TV teamed up to bring full-length games of the NCAA football into your Verizon Wireless or MediaFLO USA V CAST Mobile TV Phones.

From the X Games to NCAA football, the team up would bring mobile TV and football fanatics, a whopping 24 bowl games in all. The service would kick off with the Poinsettia Bowl on the 20th of December and wrap up on January 6 with the GMAC Bowl of ESPN. Click here to see a detailed listing of the games. Now you can attend to other things in life and watch football at the same time. Aren’t you glad you live in the 21st century?

  • Voyager by LG

Verizon unveiled its latest line-up of hot mobile phones for the holiday season. The line-up includes:

    Juke by Samsung
The Juke is a swivel-design mobile phone that you have to flick open 180 degrees to reveal the keypad. Available in s teeny-tiny form factor, the phone features 2GB of internal storage (fancy term for saying there is no support for additional storage). Verizon calls it a fashion-forward fancy phone (ooh), and the Juke, true to its name, handles MP3, WMA and unprotected AAC files.

Pity it comes with just a VGA camera though. Thankfully, Bluetooth stereo support is a saving grace.

    BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Smartphone
The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Smartphone needs no introduction.

    The Venus by LG
Available in black and pink, the Venus features dual front screens, with the lower portion offering touch input with vibration feedback, designed for quick access to the phone’s features. The Venus is also music-centric and comes in a slider design. With support for microSD memory cards up to 8GB, this is a decent phone compatible with Verizon’s Get It Now downloadable applications and V Cast Video and Music.

Venus can handle MP3/WMA/AAC files and comes with a 2 megapixel camera; it can record video as well.

    The Voyager, also by LG
The Voyager is equipped with a large external touch screen. Open it up laterally and you get a QWERTY keypad to book. It features a web browser, music player and is compatible with high-speed wireless broadband access. Like the Venus, it features a microSD memory card slot for expanding memory up to 8GB.

No info on the pricing yet. The four phones will be available in stores before thanksgiving.

  • Verizon V CAST Mobile TV Now in Arkansas

    V-CAST

Verizon announced that the Verizon V CAST Mobile TV service is now available to its customers in Central Arkansas, allowing them to enjoy up-to-the-minute news, sports and TV shows right on their cell phones while on the go. The mobile TV service from Verizon includes live shows and content from CBS, Comedy Central, ESPN, Fox, NBC and Nickelodeon, with shows covering a broad range of ages. Parental control features are available as well.

The Verizon Red Hot Deal Days promo is running between August 12 and September 3, so V-CAST Mobile TV enabled phones are available for a lower price. The LG VX9400 phone, for example, is priced at US $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Of course, it is a bit off-putting that the monthly access package for the TV content ranges from $13 to $25/month.
