What makes a USB drive different from the standard ones we see in the market? Design should be the answer to all that. Especially for kids and teens who now need the assistance of such portable drives for personal and school purposes, EMTEC offers a new range of Kooky USB drives that should capture the attention of most teens today.

And the best way to reach out to the teens is via special events such as this one, the Un-Official Rockin’ Pre-Party for the 2009 Teen Choice Award on August 5th in Los Angeles where EMTEC will be present. EMTEC’s Kooky USB drives will be bundled in T2 VIP Swag Bags along with other exclusive gift products which will be handed out to celebrity VIPs during the event.

Each Kooky USB Drive is based on one of the uniquely named and numbered Kooky Klickers character pens, and collections of USB drives are released in limited edition “Waves.” Representing a range of fun and colorful Kooky personalities, each drive is marked with a holographic sticker to affirm its authenticity.

You’ll probably recognize TAG Heuer as the makers of some popular (and expensive) luxury watches. Well, the Swiss company has recently strayed from their roots introducing the above pictured Bluetooth headset.

As you can see, the actual headset will ship with a USB docking station that bears resemblance to a fat USB thumb drive. Oh yeah, you can save 4GB of data on that fatty while charging your headset, now that’s innovation! Additionally, the headset itself will allow for 4 hours of talktime on a single charge.

There’s no word on pricing or availability but considering the brand, don’t expect this to be cheap.

  • USB Flash Drives are part of our daily lives but if our daily life revolves around the Pentagon we might not be able to carry any. The Department of Defense has banned all USB drives and it is collecting all the drives issued by the Pentagon. That’s a response to a “global virus” that affects all USB drives. Nice way to deal with the whole thing. There’s no news on when the USB drives are going to be returned to Pentagon’s employees. What’s next? Cell phones?

For whatever reason, people keep making gold devices. Do we need all that bling-bling laying around our gadgets. The Limited Edition Solid GOLD Eloquence Pico-C USB flash drives will get you some 8GB of memory and you will have various skins to use, each priced at $600. Isn’t that too expensive? And what if you loose it? I mean it’s pretty darn small.

Manufacturers are trying to get more environement friendly gadgets. We’ve seen phones made of wood, corn or recycled parts. We’ve seen a bamboo case for a mini desktop PC. It’s time we found an USB eco-friendly drive to go with all that. (more…)

This is way to cool a gadget to miss out on. The above set has multiple functions. You get three colored highlighters, which are blue, yellow and green, an USB memory flash drive with up to 2GB of space, and an USB hub to hold them all together.

I know what you’re thinking. What if you have to use orange to highlight something that demands an orange highlighter? Here is a more complicated solution: scan the document, highlight it in orange and print it out again.

I am not that clear with the pricing so better check it out here.

We’ve just seen the James Bond watch and USB drive so I guess you deserve to take a look at Super Talent’s new flash drive. The Pico-C Gold is a really tiny flash drive. It measures 31.3mm x 12.4mm x 3.4mm and it offers an amazing 8GB or available memory. It’s water and shock resistant and it could basically go anywhere you’re going. As long as you don’t lose it.

And that’s right, it’s gold plated. No wonder they call it Gold as it has 24-carat gold all over it. The price you ask? It’s just $40. It’s a really affordable piece of jewelry. It might even fit in your watch. Or simply wear it around your neck. Tell them it’s a symbol of your religion.

Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James said about the Pico-C Gold:

Is it the speed, the ruggedness, the water resistance, the incredibly tiny size or the pure elegance that people like most in our Pico-C drive? Who knows? But, this combination of features and style is not offered in any other terrestrial storage device, which makes it a real craze

So, are you ready to order one?

USB Flash Drive a la Bond Style

Does your job involve secretly sneaking in corner offices around the world for certain secret spying missions? Do you happen to work in an enforced and heavily controlled environement? Or are you just paranoid about your data and its security.

With this watch you don’t need to worry anymore. Did I say watch? I meant USB flash drive. It sure looks like a watch but besides telling the time this watch secretly stores a 4GB USB flash drive. The watch itself is fully functional. It has a “plastic case covered by stainless steel mask with brushed silver finish and convex mineral glass with shiny raised index”. Or so they say in order to mask its simpleness.

Inside the watch there’s a compartment fitted for the flash drive itself. And 4GB is not so bad for a tiny flash drive. This watch/flash drive duo is available for $60. But what if I hate wearing watches?

    iPod-Like USB Stick

This one is for the Apple fanatics out there. How would you like to get this USB memory stick? No matter if you own an iPod owner or if you are one of the three guys that bought a Zune, you might still like this USB stick.

The USB stick’s exterior is made of silicon so you won’t lose the cap. You might break it as you will be surely playing with it from time to time. The stick will come in two versions, 1GB and 2GB and it will sell for around $40 or $50 depending on what version you will choose. The pricing is actually in British Pounds so it could change daily depending on conversion (£19.95 1GB, £24.95 2GB). And you will have to know this iPod USB stick knows USB 2 which will get you faster transfers. Add the design and the money is worth it.

When you get tired of it simply throw it away to an eBay user. These weird things must sell like hot cakes if advertised correctly!

Opera 9.5 for Your Flash Drive

I have come across this interesting concept from Opera 9.5. Not only is it available for your PC and Mac, or your smartphone but now you can simply install it on your USB drive. And in case you “like” any Internet Explorer just as much as I do you might choose to use up 15MB of space on your drive to get a decent browser which will be always at hand.

    Flash%20Drive%20Swarovski1.jpg

If you’re proposing to someone of equal geeky stature as you, then perhaps something like the USB Flash Drive Swarovski Crystal Engagement Ring isn’t as strange to you as it is for me. The idea is that you’d carry your own collection of pics, music, or whatever in your drive, while your partner carries their own collection in their drive. When joined together, the two drives can exchange files. Not exactly my idea of romantic, but I reckon some might find it appealing. And if you want to download and upload files to your PC, you can use the necklace accompanying this USB drive, which is equipped with a mini USB port, two ‘sharing ports’, and a standard USB port.

    Another pic after the jump.
