Are you looking for an unlocked HTC HD2 already? The phone will be out in Europe in the following months. First O2 will launch it in the UK this month while Vodafone will launch it in Spain in December. U.S. customers are only going to get it at some point in the first quarter of the next year but that doesn’t mean you have to be waiting that long to get it.
The HD2 will be also available off contract starting with November 11. The unlocked phone will sell for around $740 in the U.K. which is not a bad price considering what the HD2 can do.
Yes, you can purchase the phone and use it in the USA but you will have to settle for EDGE connectivity only. The unlocked HD2 will not be able to offer 3G connectivity if you decide to use it in the USA. Therefore, if you want a 3G HTC HD2 you’ll have to wait until 2010 to purchase one.

By this time you should already know that O2 is the carrier ready to bring HTC’s latest Windows Mobile phone to the UK. The phone has been officially announced and it’s probably going to be HTC’s flagship Windows Mobile 6.5 for a while. With specs like a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display the HD2 is definitely a phone worth buying.
According to O2’ customer support, the phone will be available in O2 stores starting with October 19. The price hasn’t been specified at this point so we’ll be back with more details once O2 is ready to launch the phone.
U.S. customers, get ready to wait some more for the HD2! The phone will be available in the USA only in the first quarter of 2010.

Deutsche Telekom seems to be more and more interested in mergers. After we’ve heard how its T-Mobile UK division will join forces with Orange UK, we now hear that the German conglomerate has a new target in sight. Sprint Nextel might be the company that Deutsche Telekom will purchase and this isn’t the first time we hear about it. That means Sprint Nextel will merge with T-Mobile USA and AT&T’s comfortable second largest position will be threatened by the new emerging carrier.
Don’t get all too excited just yet folks. Said merger will not be a piece of cake and it will take a while to be accomplished. In the mean time Deutsche Telekom is being advised by Deutsche Bank on the matter and we should see an offer in the following weeks. We’ll be back with more details soon as this is a very important move in the mobile business.

If you can’t wait to get your Zune HD but you’re not going to be in the USA next week than you can already forget about it. The PMP won’t be available anywhere outside the States for now. Not even Canada.
Here’s what Microsoft had to say about the Zune HD sales:
For the time being the Zune HD device will remain US only. Right now we are focused on deploying an exciting service in the form of Zune Video to 18 markets. We are looking at potential future hardware experiences for these markets, but do not have anything to announce right now.
So what do you think, did this strategy manage to scare Apple? Considering that Apple has sold over 225 million iPods already and the number is going to grow in the near future maybe Microsoft should revise its sales policy and expand to other foreign markets too.

It’s not the first time we hear that NTT DoCoMo is interested in the US market. It looks like the Japanese giant which already has over 50 million subscribers in Japan is considering such a move. According to rumors the Japanese company will be arriving to the USA in 2010 and it will bring lots of phones ready to feature its mobile web service i-mode. What will the Big Four have to say about this? What about you? Would you consider switching from your default carrier to NTT DoCoMo.

Just like we told you a few days ago, Nokia is already offering its brand new Internet Tablet to those of you willing to pay the full price. We’ve seen the N900 up for pre-order in Germany and Italy and now the U.S. Nokia site has the gadget available for pre-order too. In case money is no object to you then you’ll have no problem getting the N900 for $649. That sounds like a lot, sure, but not as much as $860. That’s how much Europeans will have to pay for the same N900 if they decide to pre-order it.

It’s really hard to be a true Nokia fan in the USA since most carriers don’t seem to care about Nokia’s latest phones, not to mention its services. After we’ve seen the N97 disregarded by everyone in the phone business we know hear that Nokia’s music service, Comes with Music, has been pushed back to 2010. Maybe the U.S. market is not ready for another free DRM music service or maybe Nokia is not ready to support the costs given its current foothold in the USA. Nokia hasn’t specified when Comes with Music will be launched but I guess you won’t miss it all that much. After all there’s always iTunes or even Amazon ready to satisfy your music needs.

Don’t get all too excited folks, nothing is official right now, but it looks like Big Red is getting ready to launch the Samsung Omnia II soon. As you can see on the Samsung Mobile USA website there’s a page dedicated to the Omnia II and Verizon’s logo is written all over it. The page doesn’t say much about the phone, but it does offer a sign up form for getting more details about the actual launch of the phone. What do you think guys? Will the phone be available by October?

Since we keep talking about tablets these days, let’s shift our attention to a new tablet-like device spotted at the FCC. This one is made by Nokia and it’s headed to the USA via T-Mobile. The FCC gave its thumb up on a Nokia RX-51 device which is not a phone. The documentation reveals AWS 3G support which is a clear indication that T-Mobile USA is the carrier that’s going to launch it. Nokia hasn’t launched the device just yet so we’ll have plenty of time for more speculation in the following weeks. What do you think this device is all about?

Remember that nuvifone handset from Garmin Asus? In case you don’t hate it yet for being so late then you might get all excited (again) when we tell you it’s coming to North America sometime in the fourth quarter of the year. According to Garmin, the phone is currently being tested by more U.S. carriers and it’s expected to be launched in Q4. We don’t have any carrier names yet and we don’t know how much the nuvifone will cost. But would you buy a phone that was expected to hit the streets more than six months ago? Wouldn’t you rather get something totally new?

Those of you living in Canada can now win a Palm Pre from Bell. All you have to do is complete a form and hope you will be one of the lucky winners. And if you don’t win, at least you’re going to find out how much Bell is charging for the Pre. Why is that you ask? Well the law requires Bell to divulge the MSRP price for any phone offered as a prize in a contest. And that’s how we know that Bell will sell the Palm Pre for $650 CAD which is pretty close to what Sprint is charging for the Pre in the USA.

As you can see from the pictures above the iPhone 3G S didn’t convince people to sit in a line for it. In 2007, back when the iPhone was a hot new product, people were really anxious to get their hands on the new device but know the interest seems to have diminished. The new iPhone brings some important updates to the table but if you’re not into better graphics or video recording than your old iPhone 3G packing iPhone 3.0 OS is probably the phone you actually wanted to buy a year ago. After around 20 million iPhones sold worldwide is the new version going to be a hit or not? Is it the harder economic times or the fact that the iPhone 3G S can’t conveniently come to your house now? Or is it that people don’t qualify for the iPhone 3G S subsidized upgrade? Remember folks, the iPhone is available now in the USA, Canada and a few European countries. If you spot a line, drop us a line!

June 19 will not only bring lucky customers the iPhone 3GS and the Nokia N86 but also Nokia’s flagship phone the N97. That’s all happening in the UK and while no U.S. carrier is going to sell the the N97 for a subsidized price, Vodafone will do just that in the UK. The phone is available for pre-order and Vodafone is prepared to offer a free set of speakers worth £25 for every N97 and if you get the phone online then you get extra minutes which is certainly a good incentive. The phone will cost you £150 if purchased with a less than £40/month 2-year plan and it will be available free of charge if you’re going to get it with a £40/month (or higher) contract.

UK laptop buyers should check out Dell’s latest offer. Every £499 Inspiron 15 or £599 Studio 15 purchase will be bundled with a free round-trip flight to the USA or Europe. You won’t really get the destination choice of your dreams since there are some clear limitations. You can fly out from Heathrow or Gatwick only and the available destinations are New York, Boston, DC, Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, Lisbon and a few similar airports.
Just make sure you’re willing to fly somewhere else on a different date if your initial travel plans can come through:
The Booking Request Form entitles you, the bearer, to one return flight offer as specified, to one of the featured destinations. To obtain the flight you will be required to provide 3 alternative destinations and 3 alternative travel dates. Our booking agent will use all reasonable endeavors to meet your booking requests but this cannot be guaranteed and, in such circumstances, you will be offered an alternative.
What do you think about the deal? Doesn’t it look like you’re getting a free laptop with each round-trip flight?

We’re not sure what to think on this one. We’ve told you earlier that the nuvifone is coming only to announce later that Garmin is not quite ready yet for that to happen. We’re hearing now that the phone is on track for release in the USA and that’s going to happen very soon. Are we to believe Garmin this time? You know what happened to the boy who cried wolf one too many times, don’t you?
The Asian market is also supposed to get the phone this month or sometime in early July. Will this late nuvifone be able to fight against the Pre or the iPhone?

You were not expecting this, but Cincinnati Bell is the first carrier in the USA to offer the Nokia XpressMusic 5800 for a subsidized price. Its customers in the Ohio region will get to choose from the $149.99 with a contract version and the $349.99 without a contract version. The contract-less version is $50 cheaper than Nokia’s current price so people might still be interested in Cincinnati Bell’s offer even without a contract. Anyone else interested in bringing the 5800 to the American public?

T-Mobile has the youngest 3G network in the USA and the carrier seems more than interested to expand it this year. A company memo apparently got leaked and from what we can all see in the picture above, T-Mobile’s 3G network will significantly expand over the year. Each month during Q2 to Q4 we will see more cities getting that much needed 3G coverage. While you might get anxious already, we would advise you to sit tight and wait for official confirmation.
