Mio Technology announced its latest addition to the DigiWalker line-up of portable navigation devices. The new Mio DigiWalker C230, unveiled at the DigitalLife technology tradeshow in New York, is an upgrade to the C220 series and comes in a compact form-factor that is still affordable and comes with pre-loaded maps of the U.S. The C230 boasts text-to-speech directions, something that is hard to find at such a low price. For memory expansion, it presents an SD/MMC memory card slot.
The C2xx series has always been considered entry-level, but the C230, with its ability to speak actual street names, appears to be a nice addition to your gadget collection. There’s a backlight feature, as well as an updated anti-glare display that lets you see maps and menus even on in bright sunlight. Points-of-interest are aplenty with restaurants, hotels and gas stations. Voice guidance in 16 different languages (including English, French and Spanish) is available on the C230, and is powered by an SiRFstar III GPS chipset.
Measuring 3.54″ x 3.30″ x 0.94″, it weighs in at 144 grams (5.08 oz) and is priced at US $249.95. It will hit the markets in October.
